DTNE works in partnership with The Princes Trust to deliver TEAM personal development programmes. DTNE is located in Central Newcastle with bases in the City Centre, Byker and Gateshead Town Centre. All of our bases are easily accessed by bus and METRO.

History of DTNE

In 1995 Andy Merrill started work at Cruddas Park Community Trust in the West End of Newcastle, to run a number of projects developed to give local people jobs and develop social enterprise. The programme which formed the core of their youth strategy was The Prince’s Trust Volunteers programme. This was an innovative programme designed to enable young people to work in a team in their local community and enable them to gain confidence in themselves while doing something worthwhile.

Due to unfortunate financial circumstances the Community trust ceased trading soon afterwards. To enable the continuity of provision of programmes for local young people, Andy set up Development Training (North East Ltd) and took over the delivery of The Prince’s Trust programme in Newcastle.

The next few years saw the company grow substantially and develop links with local colleges for funding and support.
