We visited last night for a celebratory anniversary meal. Barman was attentive and polite. Welcoming fires. We sat in a quiet corner by a window. Food was first class. Dessert was amazing. Got a little chilly next to the window. But in all fairness we sat there. Wud recpmmend.

The food is always good. Good choice of Drinks and the staff are very helpful. The prices is right.

Sometimes outward appearances of a pub can be very deceptive YET the look of the Duke of Wellington lives up to every expectation that i had.

A lovely, homely, welcoming & spotlessly clean pub that i would happily walk into on my own.

The food served was excellent, fresh, hot & tasty along with the drinks latte for me as i don’t touch alcohol & Peroni for the hubby that came out of the pump cold & most enjoyable.

The staff was friendly & very welcoming thank you for a lovely dinning experience today.

User

Good atmosphere, service with a smile and great food.

User

Called in today on Father's Day and managed to get a table for 4. 2 for Sunday lunch and 2 from the menu and we managed to fit in some dessert too. Food was fabulous, staff were very professional and welcoming and will definitely be calling again.

User

Food was very enjoyable, service very good and attentive. No complaints

User

Ordered two course lunch which included Steak and Ale Pie. Expected chunks of beef n gravy.... got what tasted and looked like mince and onion pie. Slightly disappointed. Surroundings and staff lovely.

User

I asked for a salad with chicken but to b honest it was just all lettuce service cud of been better couple of staff very miserable never cracked a smile

User

Went for Sunday lunch today and was very disappointed frozen veg (and not a lot of them) frozen Yorkshire puddings and two small slices of beef. For just short of £9.00 I was still hungry afterwards. When my plate came I expected dishes to follow with more veg and then when it didn't realised that was it.

User

Visited for Sunday lunch this weekend and left slightly disappointed after the place was recommended. Very poor selection of roasts left on arrival at 2:30pm. Roast beef was nothing to write home, meat was sliced to thickly for my liking and the roast potatoes were not great either. Pasta Carbonara was very watery and my youngest was very disappointed - he can make a better one himself. Other two meals order were okay. Staff were great to be fair and refunded the cost of the Carbonara. The meal ended on a positive with excellent desserts.

User

Unfortunately the food was overcooked and had to redo my main meal so we ate seperately. A change in chef apparantly. We were offered tokens for a xmas meal but based on our experience we declined. Shame as we are a regular there.

User

Sadly I've been here twice now and on both occasions the food has left something to be desired. During the first visit my friend ordered Tomato and Basil soup which turned out to be Cream of Tomato soup (which tasted canned, and they didn't deny that it was). Staff didn't seem terribly bothered. Last night I visited and the prawn cocktail came with rather unpleasant white bread which had the taste and texture of cheap supermarket loaf, despite it saying wholemeal bread on the menu. When I queried this I was told that the server had noticed already, asked the kitchen and they were unaware what the menu said. Whilst neither of these is major, along with the generally average food quality I would say it isn't worth a visit.

The beer is decent, and this is the one saving grace of this pub. To be brutally honest, for the same experience for less money just go to Wetherspoons.

User

Nice place but the food was poor the cut of stake was very fatty and over cooked maybe it was a bad night as i hurd it ment to be a good place

User

Don't know if it's changed hands it used to do really nice food, but tonight it was not even average with cold side dishes and the guy behind the bar was so rude, no eye contact, no please and thank you. Wish we had left before we ate. We will not be back again... such a shame.

User

A very disappointing evening! A group of 10 of us visited for food and drinks at 8pm. Bar was packed and big queues at the bar. Only 2 poor staff on, both working hard but looked sick of their lives. Eventually ordered food - several things on the menu not available. Large selection of beers / lagers main meals came and had a mixed review, not all were hot. Having waited over 30 minutes for desserts I went to the bar to progress and all I was told was she would have a word with someone. Asked someone else who said they were being made right now. Generally ok when they came out but my custard was stone cole. Not luke warm, stone cold!! Twice had to go to the bar to ask about the coffee that didn't come. Food wasn't bad but service and cold food spoilt what should have been a nice night.

User

Very poor, took the family for Mothers Day yesterday, food extremely poor, frozen chips, my Mam couldn't even cut the beef on her Sunday lunch it was that tough, service was very slow, we weren't even asked if everything was ok with the food once!! , we will certainly not be going back!

User

Had Sunday Lunch today. The pork was two small thin slices looked more like slices of bacon. The beef was no better, small and like leather, with two frozen yorkshire puddings. At well over £8.00 each this is not cheap and very poor quality. Won't be going back.

User

Booked a table for 7 to have a meal to celebrate a 40th Birthday. It went wrong as soon as they sent wrong meal out for the small child in our party & last. All seven of us were disappointed to say the least, upon paying we said how unhappy we all were with the meal being wrong & Childs food far too hot to eat, with it being wrong he ended up eating food from our plates his meal was wasted as he’d filled up with rank chips none of us wanted to eat. I would definitely not recommend to anyone nearly £100 for dreadful food & bad birthday meal then a 45 minute drive home disappointed.

User

After visiting the D of W last Monday evening with 5 family members ( who all travelled at considerable distance) the disappointment began when we tried to order food, only one of first our choice starters was available one person gave up after the 3rd attempt, the situation was equally as bad when trying to choose main courses again we're only able to get 1 out of 5 as first choice, eventually we got our 5 meals only to find my wife,s rump steak & my rib eye we're of quality that " tough as old boots ' describes perfectly , these steak,s were replaced with a rump that was acceptable & my rib eye equally as bad as the first at that point I gave up and enjoyed the onion rings. They did give me a discount,

but would much rather have had a pleasant night.

I rang the manager Rachel on Wednesday she was very apologetic , said she would look into how & why the had very little choice on the menu & how steaks of the quality served can be in the kitchen of major pub/ restaurant chain.

Must say the Black Sheep beer was first class. ( Nearly forgot to say the manager has not ring me back) maybe that's a clue to the whole thing.
