Coco Chanel
Coco Chanel was raised in an orphanage and during her time there she was taught to sew. She opened her first shop in 1910 before launching her first perfume and then eventually introducing the Chanel suit and the LBD (Little Black Dress). Her emphasis and influence behind her collection was to make clothing more comfortable for women. As Chanel once said, “luxury must be comfortable, otherwise it is not luxury.”

Our first woman of the week is Emmeline Pankhurst.
Pankhurst was a British political activist and leader of the British suffragette movement who helped women win the right to vote. She was born in Moss side England in 1858. ... In 1903, she founded the Women's Social and Political Union, which used militant tactics to agitate for women's suffrage. Pankhurst was imprisoned many times but supported the war effort after World War I broke out. Parliament granted British women limited suffrage in 1918. Pankhurst died in 1928, shortly before women were given full voting rights. #FiercelyFemale #Womanoftheweek
