We turned up for Sunday lunch and the place was heaving. I had tried to book a table in Facebook but due to the owner been so busy she hadn't checked her messages yet. However we did get a nice table for two. The whole place looks fantastic and the food was excellent. We both had a carvery and it's on par with some of the best spennymoor has to offer. Having worked in hospitality and catering for many years I would definitely recommend to friends and family. Can't wait to bring my little girl and try the normal menu. Thanks for a lovely lunch.

We have visited the Fox Cub today and upon arrival it was extremely busy (a good sign in my eyes) there was 3 adults and 4 kids in our group and we were told when we got there that there would be a wait for a table. We got drinks from the bar and waited to be seated. While we were waiting, Julie came over to us several times to make sure we were ok and to tell us that she was doing her best to get us a table as quick as she could. After a short wait Julie came and said she had got us a booth and showed us to it. Some of us had the carvery which was lovely and the kids all enjoyed their meals. The staff were all friendly and welcoming even though they were rushed off their feet. Special thanks to Julie for being so accommodating to us. Well done to the Fox Cub team for doing such a good job. Will definately be visiting again.

First visit since refurbishment...love it. Food was good...carvery looked fab, will be trying that next visit...looks like excellent value for money. Service was definitely smoother and staff seem 'happier'...chatty, friendly and very attentive...all despite pub being full. Lovely lady behind bar (dark hair...ponytail)...efficient and recognised who was at bar first when it came to serving...that in itself makes your custom feel valued. BT sport's and TV...brilliant addition now the world cup is in full swing...my boys loved it. All in all perfect family evening and a very welcoming atmosphere in addition to full tummies all round

Went a couple of times before the refurbishment and it was terrible on both occasions. Refurbished and new menu so went tonight, stood in a queue for the bar and twice staff served queue jumpers. Do you think it is acceptable to serve people who just come straight up to the bar and for you to ignore the queue of people who wait for their turn? I commented about this when I did get served only to be told they did say 'next" - you did not, you turned straight to those who came straight to the front ignoring the queue. Well I don't and certainly won't give you the chance again. Cheesecake was quite nice, main course wasn't. Cheap and cheerful food I suppose but I'd rather pay more for something that's you could say was nice and for better service. Won't be back. If folk think this place is good, they are easily pleased.
