About Hanson Music

Hanson music is a family firm based in Marsden, West Yorkshire. Best known for our award winning clarinets and saxophones we also manufacture a large range of quality acoustic musical instruments, components and accessories.

Hanson Music Description

Hanson Music manufactures traditional musical instruments and components. We specialise in CNC and CAM production utilising the latest technologies to create high quality products at prices which are accessible to all.

We are based in Marsden; a small but vibrant village on the Pennine Hills outside Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, Great Britain.

The company is owned by husband and wife Alastair and Jenny Hanson.

The founder Alastair is recognised as one of the foremost instrument designers in the world. His leading role in initiatives for the music industry to conserve endangered forests through sustainable and socially equitable harvesting led to him being presented with a special award for outstanding contribution by the FSC. His expertise and experience in instrument design and production generates international demand for his services as a consultant within the industry. Local demand is more likely to be Spaniels Charlotte and Sasha wanting a walk. Alastair is proud to be a born and bred Yorkshire-man. His passions include skiing, real ale, Land Rovers and more skiing.

Jenny is a professional viola and violin player. Since graduating from Royal College of Music, London, Jenny has appeared in concert, on stage, in film and recorded with many of the country's leading orchestras and international artists and was awarded a NESTA fellowship in 2006. Her playing career is diverse; Classical, Pop, Folk or Opera; A small soundbite of Jenny's work would include recordings with Michael Ball; Shirley Bassey in London's Hyde Park; Karine Polwart at Celtic Connections to the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra or Scottish Chamber Orchestra in her native Scotland. Jenny recorded solo violin parts for the Universal Studios film Leap Year and her original compositions featured in the commonwealth celebrations debuted at Westminster Abbey for the Queen, Duke of Edinburgh, Prime minister and Heads of States.

They have two young daughters; Lucy and Eleanor, who coincidentally have a love for Land Rovers and skis!

Of course the company would be nothing without the fantastic Hanson staff, subcontractors, specialist suppliers and worldwide distributors; experts in their fields around the globe working together to deliver customers quality products and professional service.

We’re getting very close now to MJF, a fabulous line up at the HANSON JAZZ MARQUEE, Dani Sicari and the Easy Rollers kicking us off as only they know how on Friday night (Ticketed event), Saturday has guest appearances from Rod Mason and Aaron Wood, an evening of Salsa then special guests Vibeology on Sunday. Bar. Food. Dry.... Come along... 🍾🎺🎷🎤🍹🍸🍷🍺

After a blistering rehearsal at the shop last night with SK2 Jazz Orchestra tonight it’s beginner wind/brass at 5.45 and Little Orchestra at 7. Anyone fancying either Ensemble ( 1 more Flute/ 1 more Clarinet in Orchestra....) then just turn up or 07973 426939. 🎻🎺🎼🎹

We’re Delighted to announce that after a hard slog of building renovations by Alistair and the engine room boys our new ORCHESTRAL size rehearsal room is ready. We’re welcoming The SK2 Jazz Orchestra tonight with our wind/brass/choir/orchestral rehearsals to follow. We’ve also doubled the size of our showroom!!!!! We still have some tidying up to do but feel free to pop in and enjoy a fantastic coffee too! ☕️🎷🎷🎼🎹

Very excited to be starting up all our groups again in September. We are currently building a brand new rehearsal room and new Show room, WOOHOO 🎉 so our first rehearsal should be Wednesday 5th but please keep an eye on fb in case we have to put things back a week.

BUILDING WORKS:
From Thursday 23rd August to Friday 31st August there will be building works going on in the shop. The workshop will be operating as usual for repairs, but if you’re planning a visit in this time, please ring in advance on 01484 848060 to avoid disappointment.

MUSIC FUN DAYS Wednesday, Thursday 22nd & 23rd August.
Open to players of all instruments - ages 7 to 18.
Suitable for beginners to advanced players. Our specialist tutors have all played professionally with some of the countries leading orchestras, bands and ensembles and studied at the top music colleges and conservatoires.
... From 9.30am until 4pm each day.
There will be loads of music, loads of fun, games and a concert to conclude the two days.
Booking is essential as our Maestro will specifically arrange music for the children attending.
Cost will be £50 for the two days and children will be expected to bring a packed lunch.
