Every day people in the UK go hungry for many reasons. Foodbanks provide a minimum of three days emergency food and support to people experiencing crisis.
Hartlepool Foodbank Description
Every day people in the UK go hungry for reasons ranging from redundancy to receiving an unexpected bill on a low income. Trussell Trust Foodbanks provide a minimum of three days emergency food and support to people experiencing crisis in the UK. In the last year over 1 million emergency food parcels were given out by the network.
All food is donated by the public and sorted by volunteers. Frontline care professionals such as doctors and social workers identify people in crisis and issue a food voucher. Clients receive three days of nutritionally balanced, non-perishable food in exchange for their food voucher. Foodbanks also make time to chat and to signpost clients to other helpful services.
Foodbanks help prevent crime, housing loss, family breakdown and mental health problems. A simple box of food makes a big difference.
The Trussell Trust partners with churches and communities to open new Foodbanks right across the UK. With over 400 Foodbank projects launched, the Trust's goal is for every town to have one.

We currently have some volunteering opportunities at Hartlepool Foodbank:
⭐️Foodbank session volunteers⭐️ Tuesday/Friday 11am - 2pm (weekly or fortnightly depending on your availability) Tasks could include welcoming and listening to our guests, making refreshments, packing bags.
... ⭐️Social media volunteers⭐️ In your own time but regular contact with Foodbank’s Coordinator Would involve supporting the coordinator with all aspects of social media.

Hartlepool Baby Bank is now open on Tuesday and Thursday
We seem to be low on potatoes of all kinds at the moment! We try to give our both tinned potatoes and instant mash if we can, so if anyone is able to donate we’d really appreciate it. We are also low on tinned fruit, long life milk and long life juice/squash. Thanks all!
We are part of the Trussell Trust network and collectively our Foodbanks gave out a record 1.6 million food parcels last year. This doesn’t count all of the food support given by independent food projects of which Hartlepool has many.
We make a huge difference to the lives of people in crisis but we desperately need change to ensure people don’t get into crisis in the first place.
If you can, please get involved with the Trussell Trust’s campaign to end the five week waitin...g period for Universal Credit. This is one of the biggest problems facing our guests and removing this would make a huge difference.

🐣 🌼 Thank you so much to everyone who donated over the Lent period. We reckon we’ve had about 700 Easter Eggs and it’s been so wonderful to be able to give every guest an egg and see their faces when they realise they’ve got an extra gift. Thank you for making that happen!
Just a reminder that we are closed on Good Friday as it’s a bank holiday but we will reopen as normal on Tuesday next week. Happy Easter everyone! 🌼 🐣

🐣 Wow! 🤩 What a fab Easter Egg donation from Ben and Scarlett! They’ve filled the whole of our packing bench and part of the floor too! Thank you so much to these little stars and to everyone who donated to their campaign, it’s lovely to be able to offer a treat to all our guests.
Also just to remind everyone we are open as normal and have certainly not run out of food - this is something we’re hearing quite regularly on the grapevine but rest assured that this isn’t the cas...e 😊

We’re holding a pub quiz to raise money for Foodbank!
Quiz night and pie and peas (veggie option also available) Friday 15th February from 7:30pm at The Nursery Pub, Hopps St
Tickets £5 available from The Nursery or by calling in at Foodbank during our opening times (Tuesday and Friday 11:30 - 1:30) We’ll also be collecting food donations for Foodbank on the night, so please bring a tin or packet if you can.
