Our man in China......
Ex Horden player Lewis Baker who is over in China teaching English had the honour of captaining Xiamen Typhoon whites in China’s biggest rugby competition. The Typhoons got all the way to the semi finals but the result didn’t go their way.
Well done Lewis Baker and good luck to you and the Typhoons 🏉

📰 Head Coach Bowman Steps Down 📰
Head Coach Glenn Bowman has decided to step down after around 15 years in the role.
Glenn spent many a year in the heart of Horden’s midfield as a player, where he earned the nickname ‘Rock’ because of his reliability and solid defence. He was part of the squad of 2003 which finished 5th in North 2 East - rubbing shoulders with the likes of Bradford & Bingley, Hull and Sheffield. Arguably the club’s best ever league finish.
... He immediately took up a coaching role once his playing days were finished and soon became the club’s head coach when succeeding Dave Turner.
During his 15 years of hard work and dedication, there are a number of highlights. League title wins in 2006 and 2014 will rank highly, along with leading the charge towards an EDF Senior Vase quarter final game against Sutton Coldfield at Horden’s Welfare Park, which drew hundreds from around the village.
He also pulled double duty for around 6-7 years of his tenure, having coached a junior team from around 11yr old through to senior rugby. Several players representing the club at senior level and around half a dozen represented the club’s first team so far.
These are just the tip of the iceberg as far as Glenn’s efforts and achievements go.
Glenn added “I want to thank you all for the effort you've put in this season and for all those seasons I've been coaching. I've had many good times together with a lot of you over the years and made some great memories which I'm grateful for. I wish each of you all the best in your future playing careers and ask that you fully support the new coach once appointed”.
Glenn is now expected to take a few weeks/months break while considering options. The club are hopeful that he will continue to serve the club in some capacity, as his knowledge and experience will be a valuable asset.
I’m sure everyone will join the club in wishing Glenn all the best for the future and show their gratitude and thanks for all of the years graft he has put in.
Thank you.
