User

New years day. Quite busy but a lovely atmosphere. Staff very friendly and helpful we had excellent food and service. We found a new (to us) alcohol free beer. It was excellent.

Definitely worth more visits.

User

Just finished lunch, had another lovely meal as usual and finished it off with a slice of gorgeous Victoria sponge cake. Nicest cake in Tynemouth, absolutely gorgeous with a cup of coffee to go with it, can't move now but will be worth starving tomorrow! Thank you to the staff, lovely service and special thanks to Alex

I visited today and I have to say that the wait before you re-opened following a refurbishment was well worth it. The new look Hugo's is fabulous and it was so nice to see all the friendly staff once again. The meal I had was excellent and very enjoyable. I hope to be able to visit Hugo's on a weekly basis.

User

Had a skinfull while watching England beat Sweden - fantastic

User

Best Tapas I've ever tasted!!!!! Must try your Cocktails next time

User

We only had a hot chocolate and cappuccino but the staff were lovely and friendly.

User

Visited the refurbed Hugos to watch the match. Pub looks good with the new wooden floor a vast improvement on the old carpet. Also, it was nice to see plenty of staff on hand to serve and generally clean around. Makes a huge difference. Will be back. Hywel

Cracking place great Guinness even better with my pal the Master Brewer Martin Hammill

Went in today for the first time after the reopening, was initially very impressed by the refurb. Food was lovely and the staff were fantastic. Was pleased to see lots of high chairs available as we had our baby with us. Assumed there would be some changing facilities to go with the high chairs and helpful staff, but there were none at all, meaning I had to change my baby on the floor of the ladies. This didn't impress me or another customer who came in and had to witness me cleaning up after a poo explosion on your floor! I don't expect to be able to take a baby everywhere, but there are mixed messages as to whether or not you are a child friendly establishment. I noticed there is no accessibility/facilities for disabled customers also, so was ultimately very disappointed by the refurb.

User

Disappointing menu. Not a lot to choose from. Used to be much better. Rather dark and dingy inside.

User

Called in for a drink yesterday. Lovely inside but sat near the windows at the front and every time the door opened it closed with a hell of a bang....was so annoying, I couldn't have sat there for much longer. Nice apart from that.

User

Works leaving meal , ok until the end mainly , bell rang went to the bar and asked does that mean last drink and the blonde waiter response was “ you must be fucking joking “ and then proceeding to mock to another member of staff , Thursday night the bar was dead , very rude and uncomfortable will not be back

User

We visited today with our two children, service and food were ok not exceptional but we were stuck for places with tynemouth being so busy. I would more than likely give a higher Score as it was fine really but the HUGE downside was that I had to change my son on the toilet floor I do not find this in any way acceptable!

I was provided with a pop up changing Matt when I asked but it still meant my child was on the floor essentially. Before the refurb they had a small area in the ladies that was for baby change why has this gone??? The poor member of staff who helped me was so apologetic I felt it really wasn’t up to her to explain but those who decided to remove it!

Through the day tynemouth is a family friendly place and unfortunately I won’t be returning if I can’t change my child in an acceptable place I wouldn’t want to be changed on the floor would you?

User

Went here with some visiting friends at lunchtime on Saturday. There were five of us ordering food. It wasn't busy. Our two friends ordered just before us. Their order came after about 20mins. They ate it and ours still hadn't arrived. I don't believe 2 toasties and a bacon bap take long to cook. In fact, when the waitress came to take our friends' plates and we questioned why our order hadn't arrived and she went to investigate, it appears it hadn't even been cooked. This was over an hour later. We decided to have a refund.

I think the thing that annoyed me the most was that the staff were not in the least bothered about what had happened.

When we went outside we noticed that all the other eating places were full of customers. Hugo's had few customers. I'm not surprised. Hugo's gives very poor service and lacks customer service. Staff were standing around. Nobody was concerned with customer satisfaction. If you're going to provide a service then please provide it. People pay for it. I dread to think how Hugo's will cope in the height of the summer season. Definitely needs more staff training.

User

Went for an afternoon drink here with the other half and my brother. We ordered drinks and sat down by the window and there was a really strong smell of cleaning products. It was filling the whole room. I thought we were going to have to move seats because I couldn't stomach it. It stank of bleach! My partner took a gulp of his pint and spat it straight out. His pint was full of cleaning products! It was so strong it filled the room! He went back to the bar, there was a half hearted sorry then they gave him a different drink and asked him to drink a glass of milk "just in case". We were actually in shock. We sat somewhere else and finished the drinks and waited to see if he was ok. The staff never filled in a report or asked him if he was ok. We went home and emailed them and have not heard a response for nearly two weeks!

User

Literally just walked into Hugo’s and your door staff whoses obviously on a high horse replied once I asked if the football was being shown, he replied saying ‘I’m watching a film’ from that repsonse I said are you kidding and he no we’re watching a film. I was with a group of 5 people. Lost business. Obviously didn’t care at all, lost money for the business unfortunately.
