How to drive in the Snow:
Speeding Up. When going up through your gears try and use the next gear if possible. For example if you would normally be in 2nd gear use 3rd. Using more powerful gears ie 1st and 2nd are more likely to make the car lose grip.... If you can pull away in 2nd gear that will lessen the chance of the wheels spinning and skidding, just be extra slow with the clutch and apply gentle acceleration. Slowing Down. Using your brakes has the highest possibility of the car skidding, so use Engine Braking as well as your breaks. Try and use gears to help slow the car down, this is called Engine Braking. For example select 2nd gear earlier than normal ie 20mph and BRING THE CLUTCH UP SLOWLY this will allow the engine to slow the car down. Using this technique in addition to your braking will allow you to slow down gently reducing the risk of skidding. If you do skid release the brake and apply again gently. This allows to car to regain grip. REPEAT until you get grip and control of the car. ALWAYS steer into the skid as this will help you straighten up and regain control of the car. If you cant pull away or are stuck in a spot, APPLY THE HANDBRAKE, find the bite and apply enough power so when you release the handbrake the car will jump forward allowing you to get out of the area you are stuck in. It's really nice when people recognise the skills I need to do my job. Fingers crossed I get more pupils like Caitlin in the future.

I really admire people that work hard during lessons and stick with it, which takes determination and mental strength to improve and pass the driving test. Vicky had to change her driving style quite a lot which wasn't easy but with a lot of hard work she now has a driving licence that will change her life. From Monday 4 June 2018, you'll be able to take driving lessons on the motorway with an approved driving instructor in a car with dual controls.

I would highly recommend Ian to anyone of any level of driving experience who want to learn how to drive well. I have done my pass plus with Ian as well and am now confidently driving around in my own car. Not only a good instructor but a genuinely nice bloke

Literally one of the best choices I have ever made was picking Ian to teach me how to drive! He's so relaxed and easy to get along with which made the scary thought of driving a car much easier since I'd never stepped foot behind the wheel before my first lesson. I felt at ease completely with Ian as he's so friendly while being super helpful at the same time, making sure for no awkward silences. I didn't always make things easy for myself, not by a long shot, but he was super patient (thankfully), kept pushing me and after a year of learning I finally passed my test today (one failed attempt but extra lessons fixed my issues) I couldn't have done it without him and would 100% recommend anyone to learn with Ian, he's amazing! I will for sure miss our banter and random conversations, you made learning to drive fun! Thank you for everything! For listening to my rants, dealing with my emotions when I had personal issues and being the best driving instructor ever! :D

Been learning with Ian for a while and as I am quite a nervous person he was always incredibly patient with me and considerate of my nerves. He’s very easy to talk to and explains everything fully to ensure that you understand every aspect of driving. Couldn’t recommend anyone more, amazing instructor. Thanks for everything.
