Why learn to swim at Jesmond Aqua School?
Swimming is a great low impact exercise. The benefits of learning to swim are immense and incredibly important to your child's development.
Children who swim have increased joint mobility, stamina and strength. As children learn new water skills they feel a sense of achievement and gain confidence in the water.
Swim lessons reduce the risk of drowning.
Regular swimming has significant health benefits.

What We Learn About Life From Teaching Swimming Lessons:
1. Sometimes, you have to hold your breath, jump in and trust that someone you love will catch you.
2. Eventually, you need to learn to get your head up and take a breath all on your own.
... 3. When you’re tense, you sink; when you’re relaxed, you float.
4. Nothing will ever feel quite as exhilarating as the time you let go of a pair of trusted arms and make your first, independent swim.
5. If you can’t float on your tummy, try learning on your back. A different view can be all it takes to help pick up a new skill.
6. First accomplishments mean more when your mom and dad are there to see it.
7. It’s great to learn new things with your friends, but sometimes, you’ll get more done on your own.
8. Good teachers never stop learning from their students.
9. At times your instinct is to push harder, when really you need to push smarter. The more you fight the water, the harder the water fights back.
10. We all touch the bottom sometimes, but we can always push our way back up to the surface.
11. People will be more willing to work for a smile and a lollipop than work to avoid a sharp tongue and a punishment.
12. Getting thrown into the deep end for your first experience might teach you to swim, but it will leave you with some serious PTSD
13. There will be a time when you feel like you just can’t keep going, but don’t give up. When your arms get tired and you feel like you can’t go one more inch, focus on your kick.
14. One of the most important things you can do in life is exhale.
15. Water always, always makes everything and everyone feel better.
We hope you all had a lovely Christmas and New Year 🎄🏊🏼‍♀️☺️🎇

My son has had one to one lessons at Jesmond Aqua school for around 2 years. When he began he couldn't swim at all. Now he's proficient in back stroke, front crawl, breast stroke and butterfly. He wouldn't put his head under water now he can do sitting, kneeling and standing dives and swim underwater in the pool. Fantastic instructors who care about the children. I couldn't recommend the one to one sessions more.

My girls love their lessons with Joan. They have come on so much. All of the instructors are very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend x

My daughter has 1-1 lessons with Sally and in her own words says Sally is 'really good'. Faye started swimming at another local club and after 2 years we decided to change on a friends recommendation and we haven't looked back. Faye's swimming has dramatically improved as has her confidence in the pool. Sally is a fantastic teacher who I can't recommend highly enough :) x

My 7 year old daughter started one to one lessons with Sally at the age of 5 and having never had a lesson before can now swim 400 metres and is so confident in the water, she also loved Sally as a teacher. My younger daughter who is now 4 has also started group lessons and is really enjoying it, they look forward to going to their lessons. Definitely can recommend!

I have two daughters who have swimming lessons at Jesmond Aqua School and they both love it. My youngest has been swimming weekly since her 3rd birthday and now, 11 months later, she is starting to swim without any aids and is super water confident. My eldest is another confident swimmer who now swims lengths and is perfecting her swimming strokes. Joan is a wonderful teacher, knows all of the children she teaches by name and has a fabulous teaching style to ensure progress. We have never had a lesson cancelled - if a teacher is absent someone always steps in. Every teacher we have had has been full of energy and brilliant with the children.

Fantastic swim school which my daughters enjoy each week.
