"The Belling Bell" event A challenging day for weather, the day started with no wind and rain then the rain cleared leaving us becalmed at the start line. This was short lived as the wind soon filled in to make for a lively event so we had wind, no wind, rain, no rain, sun, cloud and gusts from every angle... finally enjoying a cuppa in The Belling. Many thanks to Matt for organising the Event

The first sailing event of the season was held on sunday for which we had light northerly winds and that made it a great way to ease us into the 2019 sailing season, even the vikings came to watch! of course all of this was preceded by a BBQ on saturday evening and whilst it was somewhat chilly a good time was had by all

Might need a bit of extra tree trimming along the track but all boats were successfully launched and the season has begun

The start of the season is looming at Kielder again which is fantastic. Just in case you also want to look at trying something new or have another go at!! have information on a Newcastle based conference for the Tall Ships 2019 Newcastle Volunteering Conference as follows:-
We are excited to announce we will be holding our first volunteering conference on Saturday 11th May in Newcastle city centre.
The conference is a fantastic opportunity for Tall Ships volunteers to:
... Learn about Tall Ships’ direction for the future Increase knowledge of tools and resources available to you in your role Meet Tall Ships staff and volunteers and have all your questions answered Understand how vital your role is in providing young people with genuinely life changing experiences We will be running workshops throughout the day and there will be inspiring keynote sessions from TSYT CEO, Richard Leaman-Grey, as well as recent voyage-goers from a local school.
You will have time to catch up with fellow volunteers and build relationships with staff over lunch. You will no doubt leave feeling inspired and ready to continue making a real difference to young lives.
Sessions will include:
Volunteering at sea Publicity and events Approaching youth groups and working with young people Volunteering on shore and being part of your local volunteer group Fundraising, donations and membership Applying for fundraising, e.g. Grant Making Trusts (GMTs), supermarket token schemes, Freemasons/Rotary/Lions clubs etc. Partnership opportunities and talking to adult groups We will be running an identical event in the south, so don’t worry if you can’t make it to Newcastle.
Please book your FREE ticket below to secure your space by Tuesday 30 April. It is really important you let us know if you will be coming along so we can prepare the catering for lunch.
If you have any questions or would like more information, please email our Volunteer Coordinator, Julia, at coord.vol@tallships.org.

All calm at Kielder following storm "Deidre" which passed through on Saturday night and was wild, not much snow but made some areas more like an ice rink.
Took this as the temperature had risen on Sunday to a balmy 6 Degrees.

We are quiet at this time of year but if you are looking for an event to go to have you looked at Kielder Winter Wonderland?

The Club held its AGM on saturday. The 2019 committee were voted on and last years Commodore would like to wish them well for the coming season. Meanwhile this is where some old commodores washed up for a drink.

Have you registered your mobile phone for emergency text messages in the UK? This may help if you are ever in need of emergency services in the UK, its another option of contact if you are unable to speak to the emergency services. Its very simple, all you have to do is send the word "Register" to 112 and follow the instructions you get in the text message

Dawn on the last day of haul out and a definite hint of winter. Massive thanks to everyone who helped and looking forward to next year even if it feels a long way off....

Last boat of the day to be hauled out, good day with light winds and some light drizzle in the morning, good but tiring day, think we have all earned a pint
