The first LAMDA exam a student would sit with me is `The Speaking of Verse and Prose`. This is because it develops all the basic skills that are needed to be successful in any of the other types of exam that LAMDA offer. Depending upon the initial grade, a student EITHER learns how to perform 2 poems or 1 poem and a section of prose from a novel in higher grades. I am pleased to announce a little collaboration between myself and Janie Lavelle, which is an extension of my Speech and Drama teaching and her Dance teaching. Two of my students, in the last set of lessons that I ran, did not want to take a LAMDA exam but wanted to prepare instead to enter for the Darlington Festival of Music, Speech and Drama. Today was the day for the Speech and Drama categories. It was Vihaan`s first festival but Shourjo had entered before. I had never been to a festival either, so thought I`d better check it out. Both boys came away with silverware. Vihaan entered two categories and won one of them and Shourjo entered five categories and won three. FANTASTIC boys!! ………. but who has to polish the cups ??? :D :D

FINGERS CROSSED …… BUT A 6 WEEK WAIT!
LAMDA exam day happened last Sunday so now a 6 week wait for the results...….. Good luck everyone! You worked hard and deserve to be successful :) x

ANOTHER DOUBLE SUCCESS
Ammar, like Kalila in an earlier post, was prevented from taking his LAMDA exam in Acting in Summer 2018, because of a clash with a school trip. Ammar opted to keep `spinning` the Acting exam, whilst studying for his `Speaking of Verse and Prose` Grade 6 (Bronze medal) exam. It was heavy work, when Ammar had a lot of other pressures on his time, but it was worth it when I delivered two exam certificates to him, last week, which showed that he had gained DISTINCTIONS in both exams. Not only that, but Ammar had gained UCAS points for his bronze medal exam. Fabulous achievement Ammar. :)

DOUBLE SUCCESS Congratulations to Kalila for not only sitting two LAMDA exams on the same day but for gaining a Distinction in both. After having a clash with a Duke of Edinburgh`s expedition on the previous LAMDA exam day, Kalila opted to continue her exam work in Acting, whilst still keeping her Devising Drama work spinning - a tall order and a brave decision. SO well done Kalila, I`m very proud of you and delighted for you x

A LOVELY PHOTO Look at the happy faces of these two brothers Sasha and Josh who both gained Distinctions in SPEAKING IN PUBLIC in our recent exam session. Josh (left) is our top-scoring student, this time around, earning an incredible 98%. It might take a while for this mark to be bettered :D :D :D

DO YOU HAVE CHILDREN WHO ATTEND DANCE CLASSES? COULD THEY HELP? I have students who are sitting Public Speaking exams and part of their assessment is based on the kind of research they have done in order to make their speech. Alisha is making her speech about Dance and would like to present results from a survey in her speech. I recently sent a survey out to the parents of the children that I have recently given LAMDA training to, asking for some feedback that I could share with other parents who might be considering LAMDA training for their children.
I was very pleased that those parents also gave a rating for the quality of the teaching that their child received. Over 90% gave the highest grading possible and 100% gave a grading of `good` - or be...tter.
Below are the comments that parents gave permission to be published, which I am very flattered to quote :-

Trudy is an outstanding teacher who really values her students as her own. She has a positive way of teaching children of all ages, developing their confidence and enabling them to get the best results.
