Remembering the brave fallen and those who somehow managed to carry on after the horrors of war.
May we always remember those who give their lives so that we can live ours as we do today.
We thank you for those who have fought for us and for those who continue to fight for us.
... Lest we forget.

The main theme in tonight’s lesson was Bonfire Night. Our GCSE students have looked at references to Garner and the Gunpowder plot in Macbeth. Whilst our younger students have applied their skills to crack the bonfire codes, completed reading activities and created poems using onomatopoeia and their senses.
Hope everyone enjoys bonfire night. Stay safe!

Learning Ladders reopens tomorrow! We hope everyone has had a good half term? On the last day of our holidays we went on a pumpkin walk, where hundreds of lit pumpkins were carved by local school children. There was so many creative ideas that we will use in our classes this week. We look forward to welcoming back everyone for a week of spooky fun.

Happy birthday Blue Peter. Celebrating 60 years, the longest running children’s TV show in the world. This is an incredible poem, this reminds me of the history and brilliance of the show. Inspiring children to try something new.
I remember receiving two Blue Peter badges. We would love to hear your memories. #BluePeter #hopesanddreams #PoetTonyWalsh #BluePeterBadge #BBC #BluePeter60 #TuesdayThoughts #LongfellaPoet #

Today we took part in wearing yellow to make the conversation about mental health louder than ever. #HelloYellow. Our students shared a positive message which we will use to create bunting.
In 2018, words like therapy, depression and mental illness should not still sound taboo. Nobody should feel less than worthy of love and help.
It is a strength to talk about how you feel and ask for help when your struggling. It is okay to not be okay!
... We all have mental health just as we all have physical health and those are both EQUALLY important.
A simple ‘ How are you?’ can make a difference. Always be kind.
Young minds have launched their crisis messenger powered by their trusted partner Crisis textline. This is a free and anonymous service offering support to young people in the Uk 24/7. Text YM to 85258.

Halloween was in the air, spooky things were everywhere. We had monsters, ghosts, ghost brides and skeletons calling in yesterday for our Spooky Spectacular.
The children stirred up some mischief as they took part in a witching few hours of fun. Activities brewing included: spooky maths, painting pumpkins ( tea lights to go inside), reading activities and making hanging decorations.
Treats followed with our themed buffet and goody bags.
... Thank you, to everyone who attended. We hope you all had a ghoulishly good time?
Our next event is at Christmas!

Today is #WorldDyslexiaAwarenessDay!
At least 1 in 10 people have dyslexia.
Having dyslexia doesn't mean that you can't achieve amazing things. Some of the world's greatest inventions, brands and art have been created by people with dyslexia.
... At Learning Ladders, we use double spacing and larger font, left aligned. Printed onto cream/pastel paper makes it easier for our students to read. Black on white can be difficult to read for dyslexics ( Please see comments box for image).
Colour overlays are also available in our classes for students to use.

Choosing a secondary school can be a daunting process for everyone involved. Selecting a school is a bit like house hunting- there’s a chemistry. The open evening is just like going into a show room. Your intial reaction - gut instinct will tell you which school is best for your child.
Choosing a secondary school is one of the most voiced concerns we receive. Therefore, we have complied a checklist. This checklist is not exhaustive by any means but might just help kick start ...those important discussions ( A link mentioned in the post, is in the comments ).

This has been 3rd event my two kids have been too and they really enjoyed it! Loved Peter coming to visit. Goody bags were and always are great! They had a lovely few hours learning! Thank you xxxx

User

The Events and the packs are amazing! My Son loves attending the events. He always comes home full of wonderful stories about what he has done, discussing what he has discovered. The packs are great to use fun and interactive that keeps him entertained for hours. Thank you so much for all you do!!!

User

My son had a great time and told all his friends as soon as we got home!

Such a lovely nurturing host, completely put my mind at ease aswell as my son. My son sometimes gets a little clingy around new people. Will defiantly attend other events and have ordered the summer school pack (don't know if that's the name of it!?)

Wish I'd heard about learning ladders sooner can't recommend highly enough x

My son came to Jane after being put down a set for maths. He not only has been moved back up and passed all his sats but even got an 'accelerated' grade for Progress in numeracy on his end of year report. Jane takes great care in getting to know your child's strengths and weaknesses and works with them, encouraging all the way.

User

My daughter struggled with her maths so we looked for a teacher to help her. We are so glad we found Jane who runs Learning Ladders, without her I think my daughter may not have done as well as she has in her math. Jane is helpful, supportive and extremely friendly. Thank you Jane for everything you have done for our daughter.

User

My daughter joined you guys a year ago, feeling not very confident in her Maths subjects and the stress was beginning to show. After a year Jane helped Abbey walk into her GCSEs ready to take on the world. I cant thank you enough. She has just completed her last maths exam today and feels happy she has done well. Amazing thankyou to Jane and all the team 💙💙

My daughter has been going to learning ladders for over 2 yrs now. I highly recommend Jane to any parent whom is thinking of giving there child a bit extra help/work to bring them on. Jane has taken Katie from year 4 & has brought her forward to the point now that she had done well & passed all the year 6 SATS. Katie has thrived with Jane I have to say has always gone the extra mile to ensure the children are happy & enjoying themselves whilst working hard to achieve there goals !! Well done learning ladders x

My daughter has attended learning ladders for 2 years. Jane immediately put myself and her at ease. She caters the learning to each child’s needs and keeps parents informed of progress regularly. She goes above and beyond to help each child reach their potential. She is extremely kind and thoughtful and all the little touches that help motivate and keep the children going are fantastic!

My Son has attended Learning Ladders on and off for several years. My daughter started Learning Ladders with Mrs Morton initially for entrance exams to schools - following being offered places in two top schools she stayed at LL for SATS revision. She is up 13 marks in all areas after only a few months and has thoroughly enjoyed it. Testimony to Mrs Morton's lovely calm nature and dedicated personality. I was really touched with such a beautiful and thoughtful good luck bag made/personalised and given to my daughter for next weeks SATS. Thank you

Learning Ladders is an extremely supportive and nurturing learning environment ran by a genuinely passionate and dedicated teacher. Learning activities, tasks and resources are tailored to the individual in order to maximise strengths and help develop weaker areas, supporting the learner to build confidence and achieve their goals. Communication with parents regarding the progress of their child and extra learning opportunities is excellent.

User

Learning Ladders is a fantastic service. I am positive that it was the support provided by Jane that helped my son achieve such high SAT results. That was several years ago and she is now providing the same fantastic care to him while he sits his GCSE's. Jane puts much thought into each lesson and really cares for the pupils. She even goes the extra mile to create fun yet constructive learning activities during the holidays. The small group size has really helped Oliver as Jane is able to give real one to one attention. By providing honest and constructive feedback to pupils and parents alike Jane creates an environment in which a child can grow and parents are kept informed. I highly recommend Learning Ladders, Jane is a great teacher.

Just received my son's summer learning pack and absolutely love it and I know he will too. Can't wait to start it with him. The little touch of the first day at school book was lovely as well, thank you so much. Xx

Jane really encouraged my daughter to see maths in a more positive light making it fun & build her confidence in a subject she really did not enjoy. I would recommend Jane if you have a child who is Doubting there ability & needing extra encouragement.

User

Jane got my son through his SATS and he got one of the highest scores in his school. Jane then got him through his GCSE's and he came out with top grades. I would recommend any child who wants to achieve high grades puts themselves in Jane's hands. The classes were fun and maths was made easy to understand where my son has struggled at school.

User

Can't recommend jane enough! My son has came on leaps and bounds and is more confident in himself about his SATS. Can't thank jane enough! He has thoroughly enjoyed the lessons. So friendly and welcoming! X

User

Can't praise Jane at Learning Ladders enough. Her knowledge not only of the subjects but of the educational system is second to none. Jane is very approachable and so helpful. She offers encouragement to her students, which builds their confidence and in turn helps them learn.

Excellent value for money and would highly recommend Learning Ladders to anyone whose child needs help.

As well as trying to find lots of fun things to do over the summer holidays, I've been trying to find ways of keeping my 5 year old up to speed with his literacy and numeracy so he doesn't forget everything by September.

I had the pleasure of meeting the lovely Jane from Learning Ladders in Cleadon who brought over this brilliant learning pack, which has lots of age/ability appropriate activities to do.

Such brilliant value for money and perfect for those rainy days. My son and I love it and can't wait to do more of the activities.
