Time for a little look through the door of our art room, to see some of the work the art crew have been busy with in the last week ¤Ä©

We're well into a bounteous harvest here at Lionmouth, with the fruit and veg grown being used daily in our own tearooms and for a Foody Friday communal lunch with our day clients who have helped grow and nurture everything. If you pop in, we also have a Help-Yourself barrow, donate as you wish. Pics include our Queen of the Veg Plots, Sharon, in harmony with the runner beans¤Öé

Lots of our lovely plants took a little road trip today (woahh there on the corners Sharon¤śē¤żŻ) over to Brancepeth Castle for the fair which starts tomorrow and runs til Sunday. We haven't set the display up 'properly' yet but they look pretty fab already, though we say so ourselves ¤śŹ¤ī╗ŌśĆ’ĖÅ¤Æ¬¤Å╝¤ī┐¤śÄ

Guys working hard moving rocks and gravel to shift the flow of water away from the nearside bank.

We're all full of enterprise and work across the site. We have welcomed another Durham University staff volunteering group today, and they are super-busy clearing a large area of butterbur to create direct access from the bottom meadow to the river - this will be really useful for educational group visits and activities down in this area. Some of the group are also underway with moving stones and gravel to divert the river flow towards the opposite bank, to try to counter the flow of the water eroding the bank here. Great excuse to relive childhoods spend creating dams and channels¤śē

This morning we welcomed a volunteer group of staff from Durham University's Modern Languages Department. After a guided tour of the site, the team cracked on with helping water and with the big seasonal task of bracken-pulling in the ancient top meadow. This essential job weakens the bracken over time, allowing the many rare species in the meadow to thrive. They did a grand job - thank you!!

Popped in for a drink but ended up tempted by the tomato, rhubarb and carrot soup. Absolutely yummy.

Nice place. It's a plant nursery, sensory garden and coffee shop supporting people with difficulties. Lovely colours and quiet spot. Awesome cakes and scones. ’┐Į

User

I just love the coffee walnut cake. I really should try the other cakes too but I have a weak spot for the coffee walnut!

User

I always enjoy my coffee or lunch there. Lovely people and a beautiful place to walk round with lots of hidden treasures as you walk the perimeters of the gardens. Lilly ponds, frogs beautiful trees etc. And you can hire the conference room for meetings and lunch to boot. And of course an idyllic setting. Worth a visit. Just of Deerness Valley Railway walk. On the road to Esh Winning. Lots of hard work has gone on there over the last three years and plants to buy as well. It is on my doorstep and it's a little gem. Really worth a visit.

Had a gorgeous piece of cake and a cup of tea here today. It's in a truly amazing setting, the service was perfect. Very friendly and personable. Well worth a visit for a wander and a bit of relaxation. There's such a peaceful feel you'll defiantly fall in love with the place and the setting like we did. We'll be back!!
