We had a fabulous 2 days at Linden Hall for our Daughter Sabrina's wedding on 11th July 2018. The receptionist Cathrine, was helpful and friendly and Julia, although extremely busy, could not have been more polite and helpful. Nothing was too much for them all Leo took our evening meal requests outside in their beautiful grounds so we could make the most of the glorious weather. They were so dog friendly and accommodated for Reggie (The Ring Bearer) also had a great time. They were up late arranging the hall for the wedding then up early to take the chairs outside so we could have an outside wedding. Well Recommended. Thank you so much Linden Hall.

User

Stayed last night with my husband for a spa night. Loved every minute food was lovely and staff were happy and pleasent especially receptionist on arrival and leaving. I had a lovely massage this morning the girl was very friendly and made me feel very relaxed thankyou. We will defintely be back in the future. Thank you again

User

I luckily enjoyed the experience twice in one week once with husband and the other with the girls , on both occasions i thoroughly enjoyed everything about it . The treatments where top class ,the food and cocktails too . The staff where very friedly and helpful and worked very hard , well done for making this experience one to remember and thankyou . !!

User

Fantastic experience at this hotel, I have stayed once before and had an equally enjoyable experience. Staff are friendly and helpful and the facilities are excellent. We stayed in the Delux kingsize room and it was maxing, very roomy and really comfy bed. We ate at the pub this time and although the menu is limited. The food was great. I would definitely recommend this to anyone.

User

Booked a day here for my daughter's 21st. And what a brilliant day. After check in we were shown around the facilities. After reading some of the posts I was a bit nervous that the buetiful Linden House had become run down and I had made a mistake booking as it had been 20 years since I had visited. But I was pleasantly surprised. Staff were very freindly and the treatments were first class. We hit lucky and basically had the spa to ourselves. Included in our package was a Cream tea which was fresh sandwiches and home baked scones and cakes ( compliments to the chef ). All in all Thank you for a lovely day

Who said spa’s are for women? Started off with the best massage ever, very intimate she was. Right down to my arse I expected her to slip a finger in. I could hear a stomach rumbling & thought she must have butterflies rubbing this hunk of manliness but I needed a shit due to a coffee I had earlier. I rolled over for a facial, first time I’ve been given one & nothing like they get on adult films. She offered me some cucumber slices, said I’d rather have a pork pie but they were for my eyes. Again the chemistry was there, she was hot for me as she moved all the way down to my nipples. After taking several layers of skin off & a head massage I left looking like a young Nelson Mandela due to my afro style hair & not having anymore gel with me. Totally relaxed time for a swim to cool off. I eased in & the water rose several inches in this small pool where everyone were professional like doing their lengths. Definitely no bombing or heavy petting in this place, gutted. A brief sauna saw me sitting with elderly women looking like Beetlejuice due to their makeup running. Another dip in the pool & over exerting myself doing 2.5 lengths I was ready for lunch.....

We visited Linden Hall for a Spa Day and afternoon tea a gift for my friends birthday on 6th Aug 2018. We arrived early and the welcome was lovely with robe and slippers and as many towels required provided. We were shown around and then went on to have our treatments early at 10.00.

Then things took a turn for the worse. After our wonderful treatments we went to the pool area and it was "manic" not one bed or even chair to be had - with towels on most empty ones claiming them! We had no choice but to go and sit in reception. We gave it a while then went back but not much better just one vacant chair. We dumped our stuff there and had a swim and try in jacucci. Then got changed for food. The afternoon tea was lovely with beautiful view of grounds and we even saw a couple of deer. Must say this was nore relaxing than poolside!! We stayed here longer to see if things had quietened down. We did go back and were able to enjoy reading a while and swim etc before we headed home. They need to address the beds around pool matter. There are obviously hotel guests and gym members using facilities.

That was the only issue we had the rest of the day was perfect.

User

Stayed here for the weekend with extended family. Location is beautiful. Building is showing signs of deterioration and could do with a large scale overhaul especially given the cost of the rooms. Most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. Breakfast very nice but very expensive - black pudding superb. Spa small and basic but functional except for steam room which appears to have been out of order for some time. Maybe management could comment on why this is. Ate in Linden Tree pub on Saturday as, although hotel takes dogs, we were not allowed to eat in the restaurant. Unfortunately, the food was not great, mostly overcooked and took a long time to arrive, with a very limited menu and hefty price tag. There should be provision for light snacks at reasonable prices as there is nothing nearby as an alternative. Staff were very accommodating - especially Catherine on reception who was lovely. Had a brilliant, fun time in the snooker room in the basement where we could be as noisy as we liked without disturbing anyone! Would definitely stay again but would come prepared with snacks and drinks and make provision to eat in the pub in the village nearby (which does a fantastic carvery lunch on Sundays) .

User

Spa break for one night only.Had massages and used the pool both days.Staff were great, our room was upgraded on arrival (10) and it was great.Lovely dinner and probably the best breakfast choice we have had for some time.Terrific value for money and will return.

User

Fantastic treatments and afternoon tea included in our package... enjoyed the jacuzzi and pool however it was really busy around the poolside and we had nowhere to hang our robes or to sit down... possibly limit the amount of people using the spa offers or introduce more seating to cater for the numbers? 🤷🏼‍♀️👌🏻

User

We booked a room to attend my nieces wedding last night, we were told there were only executive suites left, so we had one, the room was quite large but unkempt and dusty, and the bathroom was quite dirty too, we had a great evening, drinks were quite overpriced, but my niece and her hubby had a fantastic time, but the festivities we're spoilt because the envelopes with cards and money in we're stolen, and while there is no proof, we have been informed that this has happened before, and it was a member of staff that had stolen it........A beautiful day, but not so good end to the festivities.

User

I booked for 1 night for our anniversary at newcastle hotel...first impressions was fantastic..lovely views from hotel room...nice and cosy and a huge wood fire next to reception with sofas that make it a cosy night....staff are fantastic cannot do enough for you....only bad point was the food..i understand its a 4 star hotel and food is going to be pricey but the variety is very poor..we decided to eat in restaurant and i was shocked at the lack of options to eat..my wife decided to have a burger for maincourse as she didnt like the options that were given..saying that the food was excellent and so was the service...as a chef in the past working in hotels i expected good food but as stated the lack of options was poor...on the other hand breakfast was excellent with lots of options and worth waking up in the morning haha

User

Hotel itself is beautiful but it has not been brought much into the 21st century. I am a vegetarian and vegi meal options are very poor (not all vegetarians like mushrooms) also me and my husband were booked in for a 25 minute back massage it was meant to be 5pm till 5.25pm the massage didnt start till 5.10pm and still ended at 5.25pm so only got 15 mins of what was supposed to be 25 mins. The massage itself was lovely but timing was bad.

User

I would of given this hotel a higher rating but on April 27th 2018 we family and friends attended the wedding of my son and daughter in law when we arrived we got a very warm welcome our rooms were ready as I requested as we were travelling from a distance they had even upgraded mine which was lovely the day was absolutely fabulous my son getting married to a beautiful girl everyone at the wedding said they had a fabulous time but the following morning it was tinged with sadness as my son picked up the wedding presents and cards which were in a little post box which had been left over night in the function room when he opened his cards he realized that there were quite a few missing which contained money I know people will say they should not of been left in there but you put your trust in the hotel my son and his new wife were so happy and now they are devastated to think someone could do this so this is a warning to anyone that has any party's there please do not leave and gifts or presents overnight

User

I was part of a gathering of 22. We coincided with a wedding party in the main hotel. We decided to give them space and went to the Linden Tree Pub where the one member of staff on duty could not have been more helpful despite being swamped by the appearance of huge numbers of wedding guests. Two of the five offers on the cold food menu, which was all he could offer, we're not available, one of which was egg mayonnaise. Had they run out of eggs or mayonnaise ? Breakfast, early on, smoked haddock and also McSwean haggis were not available but, the eggs had been replenished. Despite the little difficulties, we had really good time.

User

I feel bad as the reception staff were fantastic and the room very nice, however one of the spa staff were so rude its beg belief. It totally jaded my stay she spoke to me as if she was looking down on me and i had to haggle to be allowed in the spa! After paying all that money to stay this is not what i expected. She then allowed me in but specifically told me i could NOT sit in any of the beds/chairs. I really couldn't quite believe how rude she was and she wasn't in going to let me in! Would not bother staying again.

User

Booked a spa break for 2 and a treatment each for Myself and Sister. Overall, we wern't overally joyed with the customer service we received from the reeption staff at main reception , bar staff and the spa reception.

We hadn't been there before so didn't know our way to the spa area, we asked staff and told us the directions real quickly and we were really confused so ended up wondering around the place even more confused.

Dinner time came around and we were getting peckish so we went to the bar for our food. There was only one lady behind the bar and appeared to be quite busy so we had to wait about 10mins before even been handed a menu.

When we looked on the menu, we discoverd that wasn't a lot of food to choose from. I know it is light snacks only but there wasn't anything we liked so opted for a bowl of chips each. We noticed on the menu there was 'MAC and Garlic Bread', so we asked the lady for plain garlic bread, 'No they won't do that on its own'. I found her rather rude, the least she could have done for us is went and asked. The chips which we got were tasty enough but was about 8 chips in the bowl for £3.75.

We were that hungry during the day, we ended up eating snacks which we had brought with us as a 'just in case'.

The spa reception staff wern't the happiest people eithier, rather misrable.

The facilities were nice enough to use but the Jacuzzi did have sand in the bottom of it, wasn't sure why which felt 'grainy' on your feet when the bubbles were on.

Overall, nice setting, nice place but won't be returning for future spa days.
