Over the last few years manufacturers have replaced the old style mechanical dashboards for new digital ones. The main reasons for this have been cost and reliability. Nowadays it is faster and cheaper to build an electronic dashboard than the old mechanical style dashboard. The new dashboards are also easier to fit into the car because you no longer have to plan a route for the speedo cable from the gearbox to the dashboard.

This new technology has it’s own problems though. Electrical pulses in the cars electrical system can cause the data for the dashboard stored on an EEPROM (Electrically Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory) to be corrupted. This could happen for example if the battery was discharged and the car was jump started. The corrupt information in the EEPROM may mean that the mileage display for the dashboard is now incorrect.

Another problem may arise if you’re car was vandalised. A secondhand dashboard may be purchased from a breakers yard but the mileage display for that dash is likely to be different to the original. This will make selling your car very difficult.

That is where we can help. By reprogramming your cars EEPROM with the correct mileage information. This change to the information stored on the memory device is undetectable and this means that you can receive the full value for your car when sold
