We visited the gallery this evening after the Christmas market. It was wonderful! The paintings are wonderful and displayed to their best advantage. Praise must be given to the staff, the young lady was most pleasant with a beautiful smile and clearly knowledgeable and enthusiastic, thank you.

It was a wonderful educational experience. The artworks were very well presented and the boys loved the learning room; making a boot polish portrait and a Durham Miners Gala banner. Would highly recommend !!

From the paintings to the short film and knowledgeable staff, this is a little gem of a gallery, so worth a look

First visit and wasn’t sure what to expect. It was fantastic. Not only are the paintings brilliant but it gives you a sense of the hard times the miners had. Loved the contrast between upstairs & downstairs. Really well done. I came away feeling proud that this in my home town. I’ll definitely be telling everyone about it.

A very evocative experience showcasing the importance of mining and it's way of life. The film of the young trapper boy was highly moving. Staff are knowledgeable and friendly, a credit to the north east.

A real addition to the cultural heritage of the area and an excellent display of the art of miners. You’ve heard of the Pitman Painters, but there were miners in other areas who are largely little known or appreciated.

Well worth a visit!

Some very good pictures and interesting narrative. Would be nice to see a greater variety of artists from more than one coalfield, perhaps. Staff were all very informative and committed.
