A customer had asked me to check their vauxhall Astra this week after hearing a noise from the rear brakes. It turns out the brake pads had worn metal to metal to the extent the remainder of the brake pad fell out, damaging the caliper in the process. New brake pads, discs and repaired caliper soon saw the customer driving away happy and safe again.
