Match Report:28 Apr 19 Newbiggin Hall 0-1 North Sunderland U14s. North Sunderland travelled to Newbiggin Hall to play the Div 3 side who will be in their league next season. The away side made their customary slow start and were penned in by the direct play by Newbiggin. James Wright and Sam Hall both made last ditch tackles to save certain goals and Adam Holland bravely saved at forwards feet to keep it 0-0. They weathered the storm and gradually started to take control. In ...central midfield, Tom Storey, Will Griffiths passed for fun and chances were created for James Southwood, Rory Davidson and Robbie Swordy but these were spurned. After half-time, North Sunderland's superior fitness started to show and they threatened to score on every attack. Charlie Elliot and Jay Liddell played some excellent one-touch footbal but the goal didn;t come until Jos Wilson followed up on a defensive clearance to brilliantly lob the keeper from the half way line. Adam Holland nearly scored from a corner but it It stayed that way to full time. A welcome win for North Sunderland. Best on the day were Jay Liddell who had his best game of the season, consistent Will Griffiths and man of the match Sam Hall who was excellent at centre half. Team: Adam Holland, Jack Heston, Sam Hall, James Wright, Zach Watson, Jos Wilson, Tom Storey, Will Griffiths, James Southwood, Jay Liddell, Charlie Elliot, Robbie Swordy, Rory Davidson, Ellis Bell,

Match Report: North Sunderland U14s 0-6 Ashington U14s. A depleted North Sunderland U14s hosted a very strong Ashington side on the excellent senior pitch at Seafield Park in an evening Pinpoint League fixture. From the word go it was clear that the visitors had strength throughout the side but they were matched by North Sunderland who threw themselves into every challenge. The home defence of Jack Heston, James Wright, Zach Watson and Matthew Brown were backed up by tenaciou...s tackling from the midfield ofTom Storey, Jos Wilson, Will Griffiths and Jay Liddell. When Ashington did break through they were denied by 'keeper Adam Holland who pulled off save after save to keep it at 0-0. The home side had good possession in the away penalty area but could not convert. The pressure finally told when Ashington made it 1-0. It was 2-0 soon after when the away forward appeared to foul Adam Holland but was allowed to play on and score into an empty net. North Sunderland lost Adam, Robbie Swordy and Rory Davidson to injury at half time and it was a backs to the wall performance in the second half. James Southwood took over in goal and performed well. To their credit they kept battling to the end. In attack they were restricted to a Jos Wilson long range effort. Ashington confirmed their dominance to end up 0-6 winners. Best on the night were Matthew Brown at full back, Will Griffiths in midfield and man of the match Adam Holland for an outstanding display in goal in the first half. Thanks to referee Mick Hornsby. Team: Adam Holland, Jack Heston, James Wright, Zach Watson, Matthew Brown,Tom Storey, Will Griffiths, Jos Wilson, Jay Liddell, Rory Davidson, Robbie Swordy, James Southwood, Ellis Bell.

Match Report: North Sunderland U14s1-5 Montagu Reds. North Sunderland entertained high flying Montagu, who bravely faced the arduous trek from Tyneside. The home side started slowly as they attacked with the strong wind and conceded 2 soft goals following indecision at the back. They then lost captain Sam Hall to injury after 15 minutes. Zach Watson slotted into centre half with James Wright and Charlie Elliot took over at full back with Jack Heston. North Sunderland found a ...foothold in the game and started to ask questions of the Montagu defence. The pacy duo of Rory Davidson and James Southwood were too hot for the away side and outpaced them a number of times before Rory calmly lobbed the keeper to make it 1-2. A number of other chances were spurned before Montagu scored twice just before half time when their forwards reacted first after fine saves by Adam Holland. Facing the strong wind in the second half, the home defence marshalled by James Wright rose to the challenge, nullified the physical threat from Montagu and restricted them to long range efforts that Adam Holland comfortably dealt with. The midfield of Will Griffiths, Jos Wilson, Jay Liddell and Tom Storey more than matched their opponents and continued to create chances for Rory and James. However, they did not gain the goals their approach play deserved and Montagu scored their fifth following a long throw. Another game where North Sunderland were punished for basic errors but can take positives for their second half defensive display and for creating many chances against one of the sides pushing for the title. Ellis Bell made a fine debut for North Sunderland. The match was excellently controlled again by referee Ray Smith. On a day where many players rose to the challenge, best were forwards Rory Davidson and James Southwood, central defenders James Wright and Man of the Match Zach Watson. Team: Adam Holland, Jack Heston, Sam Hall, James Wright, Zach Watson, Charlie Elliot, Tom Storey, Will Griffiths, Jos Wilson, Rory Davidson, James Southwood, Jay Liddell, Ellis Bell. Next game: Home to Ashington Tuesday 16 Apr 19, 6.30pm KO.

Match Report: North Sunderland U14s 1-3 Morpeth U14s. North Sunderland entertained Morpeth in the Pinpoint Division 2 and went down 1-3 to their old rivals. Playing on the fantastic senior pitch for the first time, North Sunderland played some of their best football of the season but ultimately ran out of steam against their opponents who used their many substitutes wisely and maintained a high tempo throughout. The home side started brightly and used the bigger pitch to the...ir advantage, playing some excellent pass and move football. They had threatened a number of times through the pace of Robbie Swordy, Rory Davidson and Jos Wilson before Jay Liddell finished well to deservedly put them 1-0 up. Further home pressure followed, with Will Griffiths and Robbie Swordy both going close. Morpeth hadn't threatened Adam Holland in the home goal but they were level from a thumping free kick just before half time. North Sunderland were unable to maintain their tempo in the second half and with players missing, did not have substitutes to use. Morpeth began to control the game and went ahead from a corner when the ball fell kindly for the centre forward. They made it 1-3 in nearly identical fashion when the home side missed chances to clear a corner. North Sunderland tried valliantly but a good run and shot from Jos Wilson was all they could muster. A great experience for the lads to play on one of the best pitches in the county, it will stand them in good stead for next season when all games are played on this pitch. Best on the day were Sam Hall, Will Griffiths and man of the match Jack Heston who had his best game of the season to date. The match was well refereed by Mick Hornsby. Team: Adam Holland, Jack Heston, Sam Hall, James Wright, Zach Watson, Jos Wilson, Will Griffiths, Charlie Elliot, Jay Liddell, Robbie Swordy, James Southwood, Rory Davidson. Next games: Sunday 14 Home to Montagu, Tues 16 Home to Ashington
