Northumbria Vikings Short Track Club Description

We are a friendly community club that welcomes new riders of all ages and abilities to have fun riding on our dirt track. It's easy to get started as we have bikes and helmets for you to borrow or you can ride your own bike.
Friday is Family Bike Night with fun activities 6. 30-7. 30pm from 8th September with our BC coach. Tuesday is training night from 6. 30pm for those who want to go a bit faster or get into racing. We also offer taster sessions for groups such as schools, youth groups, inclusive sport, women only sessions and cycling clubs.

We are a British Cycling Go Ride Clubmark Club and a Cycling UK Community Club.

Against doctor's orders I've just been up the road to do a track inspection and I can confirm, as always at this time of year, that it is reminiscent of custard. No racing for some time yet.

Fantastic news that our long-time Number One Gavin Parr has signed for Hull for the 2019 season. Gav couldn't commit to a full season on the pedals so wasn't considered a possible starter for 2019, so while some of his other Northumbria Vikings teammates head north, he'll join his ex-Elite League partner and great friend, multiple British Champion Andy Angell at the Humberside track when he can get away from motor Speedway. This will be his second stint on Hessle foreshore after also joining them as a very young rider for a few seasons. We wish Gavin and his new side the best of luck for 2019. There is still a possibility that the entire Vikings ensemble may be seen in action at season's end in the North & Scotland Fours Championship after finishing a brilliant second in the final 2018 round.

Not too long now before we have to get out in the cold and start training. It's already happening at other tracks around the country, brrrr...

MASSIVE congratulations to our Skipper Jason Keith who finished FIFTH in today's British Over 40s Indoor Final at Coventry, no falls, no exclusions!

Who's up for training tomorrow?

User

We are now looking at Sunday October 7th for the NRC/TKT meeting. It would help if all Vikings riders could voice their opinions on this latest date change. Christmas Day is a definite no-no 😁

User

New date for the NRC is Sunday 30th September with a 1230 pm start. After various attempts at finding the best date for as many riders as possible, even considering Tuesday evenings, this appears to be the best compromise for most. Sorry if there's anyone who finds himself unable to take part on 30th but we had to get it nailed sooner rather than later.
