It can be hard to resist going in for a belly rub when cats behave like this. However, I've been clawed enough times by enough cats to know that a show of the belly isn't necessarily an invitation to touch. Until a cat's character is fully understood, a gentle stroke of the head is always the safest option 😊

Olive (black) and Peanut (tortoiseshell) were the first cats that I looked after when I started this job last year. They were only a few months old when I first met them, and it's been so so lovely to experience them growing up 😻

I had a bit of a breakthrough with Ella yesterday. She usually hisses and growls when I arrive to feed her, but yesterday she allowed me to get close enough to stroke her. Hearing a little rumbling of purrs as I smoothed the top of her head seriously made my day.

I love being padded by cats. As well as feeling incredibly soothing, it also lets me know that I'm trusted 😻

Jake is 18 years old, but she can still (just about) jump three feet from this bush to get back into her living room. Absolute legend.

Alfie doesn't like having to come in from the garden when my hour with him is over and so he leaves protest poos by the front door in preparation for my next visit. All I can say is, lucky he's so damn beautiful!
