We went up there this morning had a cracking full English breakfast and a cup of tea. great atmosphere and customer service would highly recommend it

User

We went for Sunday lunch today and the food was lovely and very reasonably priced. Service was great too. I just wanted to say a massive thank you for the extra mile you went to for my Gran and putting some balloons on our table and a banner up for her birthday. Parkhead Station is her favourite place and where she wanted to go to, to celebrate her 90th birthday. Thank you again. It meant a lot!

User

This was mine and my mates turnaround point for our Metrocentre to Waskerley bike ride today and what a wonderful and accommodating welcome we received! After 23 miles of pedalling it was much needed too!

Walkers, cyclists and people just stopping by in their cars for lunch, this place is ideal for all passers by. We had our food in the cafe part as we weren't staying long but I did have a peek through to the restaurant side and it looked very warm, comfortable and inviting! I could have quite easily have stayed for a slap up meal and a few beers so maybe next time

This time though, as I was trying not to undo all my hard work getting there, I decided to have a tuna toastie and a cup of filter coffee... however I heard another couple of cyclists ordering cake so I also had a slab of delicious lemon cake! (I deserved it!) Service was great, tasty food served with a smile and a joke and the cake, well, devilishly delicious lemon cake is what that should be called!

If you're passing by drop in, you won't be disappointed! It was my first time but won't be my last! In fact, I may make it the final resting place (as it has accommodation too) on the coast to coast I'm planning on doing next summer!

User

Situated on the national cycle route Parkhead Tea Rooms is a welcoming pit stop for a warn out cyclist needing refreshment. The friendly staff are there to welcome you with a smile and offer great food before continuing on your cycling adventures

User

Overnight stop as part of the C2c. Arrived later than expected, so thought we had missed food, Lorraine and her partner however looked after us and did a very tasty steak pie n mash and steak sandwich n chips. Great hosts, great food and lovely room. Will definitely be back :-)

User

One day last year myself and Mike Phillips cycled up to Parkhead and called in at the tea rooms for lunch. On arriving there, Mike discovered that he had left his wallet in the car and therefore we had no means to buy any food or drinks. To my surprise, the owner was unbelievably kind and said to just pay next time we were up that way. I was so relieved to hear this but also overwhelmed to meet such a kind and trusting lady.

I am very very sorry that today was the first time that I have been back up to the tea rooms (with our lovely Breeze ladies) to pay our debt. The same lady was extremely understanding and just happy that we are honest people.

I have never experienced service like this anywhere else and the food and welcome is always excellent. Thank you SO much. We might not be regulars but we will continue to be your very happy customers.

User

Nice little cycle friendly cafe, always use it as a destination to get to have a lovely bacin sandwhich and coffee and set off back home..

User

Lovely place to have a quick brew, or eat a full meal. Set in one of the most beautiful, remote and scenic places in the North Pennines. Ideal place for C2C cyclists to stop for a welcome break and top up their energy levels. Open all year so I will visit again in the winter.

User

Lovely cuppa & chocolate muffin, better still my brother paid lol, great craic with Lorraine, beautiful setting, menu looks great, will be back again when out on motorbike.

User

Had an overnight stay. Wonderful food. Great hospitality. Reasonably priced. For those that complain about having to be a customer to use the toilets, most businesses adopt the same policy. Well worth a visit. Absolutely loved the beef and gravy roll!

User

Great place to stop for some food and a cuppa when out on the bike. Lovely friendly staff. Don’t pass this place without stopping for a chat and snack.

User

Another day on Waskerley way and another visit to Parkhead. Food and coffee is perfect and chocolate cake is even better, fantastic friendly staff as always, see you again soon.

User

An oasis in the desert. That's what this place is. With the bonus of friendly helpful owners/staff. Good food clean comfy accommodations and the best pot of tea going.

User

A welcome place to stop off at if your doing the .c2c or if your out for a ride up onto the moors to take in the superb County Durham scenery , high up on the a way cycle route , but can also be the reached by road from Stanhope or Consett this little jem is a heavenly paradise for a pot of tea or a quiet peaceful lunch from their menu , the staff/ management are friendly and polite and work hard to please everyone. Well worth a visit, keep up the good work and see you again soon

User

Great place to stop for a cuppa and cake or toast on a bike ride. It is even better on a nice day, the wind can be a bit wild up there!

User

Called today and yesterday and on both occasions the welcome was warm and hospitable. The bacon and mushroom bap and filter coffee hit the spot. Service was prompt and well organised though judging from the volume of traffic heading down the Waskerley Way I bet they were busy. Had a chat with the owner Terry who was very friendly and happy to bide awhile. Give it a go when you are passing it is well worth a look.

User

Worst and most expensive coffee I have ever had. Attitude of the unhelpful staff wasn't any better. Four new customers who wont be returning. Blanchland cafes cant do enough for you so we will be returning in the future !

User

We would've went for a tea or coffee when a couple of my family members prepared for their cycle journey, but when my 10 yr old niece was turned away from using the toilet because we hadn't ordered anything yet, we were disgusted and then changed our minds as Molly had to answer the call of nature at the side of the track, Very poor hospitality.

User

Just had the worst bowl of soup at the cafe - it was supposed to be lentil, but was like a bowl of dishwater! After adding half a ton of salt and pepper it still had no taste! And I don't think any cheese had gone anywhere near the cheese scone that went with it!! Sat amongst dirty dishes that the staff hadn't bothered to clear away, even though they'd been in the room a couple of times!! £14 for 2 bowls of dishwater, a tea, can of pop and a small chocolate bar! Feel like we've been robbed! Disgraceful!!

Had an overnight stay. Wonderful food. Great hospitality. Reasonably priced. For those that complain about having to be a customer to use the toilets, most businesses adopt the same policy. Well worth a visit. Absolutely loved the beef and gravy roll!

Great place to stop for some food and a cuppa when out on the bike. Lovely friendly staff. Don’t pass this place without stopping for a chat and snack.

Another day on Waskerley way and another visit to Parkhead. Food and coffee is perfect and chocolate cake is even better, fantastic friendly staff as always, see you again soon.

Great place to stop for a cuppa and cake or toast on a bike ride. It is even better on a nice day, the wind can be a bit wild up there!

Worst and most expensive coffee I have ever had. Attitude of the unhelpful staff wasn't any better. Four new customers who wont be returning. Blanchland cafes cant do enough for you so we will be returning in the future !
