Imagination.
I have learnt so much over the past 5yrs, but sometimes just being in the right place at the right time wins. There are things I would change technically about my approach to this type of photography now. But I wouldn’t change this image. Still love it! 🥽

‘Portraiture captures forever the fleeting moment of expression and emotion, enabling the viewer to study and ponder the story behind it.’ The story behind these images is patience, props, a constant repeat of instructions, waving props for attention, hiding props to reduce meltdowns and chocolate bribery. We all had a great time! It was so much fun and it shows in the final images.

Matilda is 4months old today. 😍 Great to see the change from newborn to now. She is much more alert and her emotions and personality are really shining through.

The big lad, otherwise known as lightning technician and props manager, sitting in for the Matilda photoshoot test shots. Also a good excuse for us to get some more up to date portraits of him! Patiently waiting. I love capturing these moments. Children’s reactions at weddings. Sometimes taking it all in, sometimes running riot, sometimes asleep.
Welcoming the guests onto the private floor in the @balticgateshead These moments seem to last, almost relaxing, before the whirlwind of a day that follows.
The first Monday of January complete. The end of the twinkling lights and never ending chocolates and drinks. There’s always this face to bring a smile and take away the Jan/Monday blues.... 😍
Happy anniversary to the Cockburn’s 🎉 4 years, yesterday. Steve Cockburn 🤗
Time flies when your a photographer.... Everyone assumes you always have a camera in hand and all the time in the world to take photographs for yourself. It’s quite the opposite, especially around Christmas, with 3 children. This is taken of Matilda at the end of a busy Christmas Day, to commemorate her reaching quarter of a year old!
Months/weeks/days. Whichever is is the right way, depending on Calendar months or actual days.....Matilda is 12 weeks old today, so 3 months, right?
Anyway, she’s awesome. This was taken during her technically unsuccessful photo shoot when she was 2 months old or 56 days.
Speeches. Those moments that impress and unimpress at the same time. The times that make us laugh instantly or pause in shock. I love documenting these moments of emotion.

I love this portrait taken at 105mm with spot metering, throwing the background into darkness.
