Went for the first time today and the tea barn is such a gorgeous setting. Thoroughly enjoyed our cuppa and cake (highly recommend the coconut cake), it was reasonably priced and we will be back! ÔøΩ

We've bought plants from here over the past 3 years now and have never had any problems. Good, healthy and very well priced, with a few 'oddities' we haven't seen in other garden centres, so sometimes pick up something a little unusual.

We decided to pop in one day with our dog on the way back from Chester Le Street park, after a walk, to grab some plants, and while there thought we'd try out the Tea Barn. The staff are friendly, the food is really nice AND good size portions. It's now become a regular visit for lunch on the way back from a walk with the dog. The inside is nicely laid out with plenty of seating, but we always sit outside with having our dog. I know dogs are welcome inside, but our small terrier either sits at our feet or beside me on the bench, something I wouldn't let him do inside the building.

A lot of reviewers don't seem to like dogs being allowed inside, but many others don't seem to mind. Having spent a lot of time in The Lakes where dogs are welcome virtually everywhere, including most shops, we really appreciate that he is welcome inside, something we will probable take advantage of in the colder weather.

Try the cheesecakes. Trust me.

We called in today, the meal was excellent! Cakes to take home, spoilt for choice. Will be back soon

User

The tea barn was extremely busy but the service was excellent, the staff are very pleasant and helpful. A lovely meal followed by the purchasing of a few plants for my garden. My 1st time at the tea barn but definitely won't be the last

User

Roaring log fires amazing food staff friendly and polite what more could you want lovely place the extension makes a big difference for the better, what's not to like even dog friendly well worth a visit

User

Popped in today. Great prices plants got a few bits and stopped for a drink and a cake. Will be back again. Already recommended your place to family.

User

Me and the wife called in , I had bacon sandwich, and a coffee, very nice. Staff were very professional, my opinion is , when you have nice staff there is a nice manager behind them, just my opinion!.

Plants and planters are really good value too.

User

Love this place, love that we can take our dog with us! We have been lucky enough each time to share the experience with people who don’t mind dogs. Excellent food and service, please don’t change a thing! That ham and egg pie is legendary

User

Long wait for the food but well worth it ÔøΩ

User

Just got our Christmas tree here for the first time, have to say we will be back next year, 8ft tree perfectly shaped for only £29! I was expecting the poor man to have to take all the 8ft ones out the wrapping to be able to find one we wanted but the first one was perfect. He was so friendly and helped us carry it to the car after wrapping it back up, will definitely be recommending!

User

Garden plants best value for money around and the tea room clean well lookdd after very friendly staff and food excellent in lovely relaxed surroundings 10 out of 10 ÔøΩÔøΩÔøΩ

User

Fab place! A range of amazing value plants, some of them needing a bit of tlc but they come away great once they’re in the garden. And really the prices are peanuts, it’s so tempting to buy more than you’ve got space for.

They also sell very good food in the pretty cafe-restaurant. Vegetarians well catered for if you ask what else they can do. Definitely worth a visit!

User

Been for breakfast today absolutely amazing couldn’t fault it service was really good & fast too. The cakes looked gorgeous will definitely be back to try them out, highly recommend popping in

User

A lovely mothers day treat of afternoon tea - lovely atmosphere with pleasant friendly staff - sure there will be a breakfast planned mid week well done to you all

User

Would have been 5 star but we had to move tables as we could smell the two dogs next to us.

I'm a dog lover but don't agree with them being allowed in where food is being served, why not go outside ?

Good food and service,no complaints with that.

User

Lunch with the family. Food was plentiful and tasty. Atmosphere light and airy. Only down point was that they could have done with more people clearing tables as had to clear own table to find a space. Wheelchair accessible.

User

Enjoyed several visits, however recent visit spoilt by too many dogs, once 1 barked they all barked. Huge dog, obstructing other tables, sat in the middle dribbling, been fed by owners. That is off putting and other diners didn’t look too happy either.

User

Very disappointed to say after 5 years of regular visits including most Sundays we will not be coming back. Really like the place and as we have a little dog its great that we can take her with us but today and previous visits your service has let you down. Let me clarify that, as a whole the service and staff have been fantastic but on three visits one member has let you down culminating today in that member arguing with me in front of other customers. It is not warm enough yet to leave the door open yet one member of your team insisted in forcing the door to stay open. It was then closed by people sitting near the door on three occasions and by me once and each time she would force it open again. When I asked her to please leave it closed as its very draughty and indeed chilly she informed me in a loud voice "it had to be open as the staff are too hot!" I find this unacceptable that I would be spoken to in that tone of voice and indeed the tables around us also commented on the fact that as customers we don't want to be cold whilst eating our food. I am also very disappointed to be again argued with whilst queuing for further food when I merely pointed out that there is a fire lit in the room would it not be better to turn that off or put it out. I run my own business and would never dream of arguing with my customers as I value there custom! I am a very laid back guy and am sad that it has come to this but I would rather know if something was wrong. I also understand that she is young but she really needs to understand that you cannot speak to people like this and requests like this in a service industry not once but on three separate occasions. I would just like to finish by saying everyone else who has ever served us has been brilliant.

User

3 of us called in for first time and popped into the cafe too. Staff pleasant, food fine, but too many dogs in the place!! It's ok being dog friendly but when you have to step over them to get to your table and on the way out dogs are fighting with each other!! Won't be back!
