A third phase has commenced at Poplar Garden Centre, which will create additional floor space to their hugely popular Brambles Coffee Shop in Shincliffe Village. The space may also be used as a venue for weddings etc

Outline planning permission has been obtained by PlanArch Design Ltd for a mixture of houses and bungalows, seven in total, at the former Glencrest Kennels and Cattery, Copley Lane in Bishop Auckland. The client will be selling the site with this benefit.

Following the success of two B&B's that were created by converting two disused outbuildings for our client in Brandon Village, we have received permission for a third unit, which has been formed by extended their existing home. The third unit is essential to help their new business to grow and help fund four purpose built units in the future.

Planning permission has been granted for a sunroom extension that provides an open plan living/ dining/ kitchen space to the previously converted stable block (which PlanArch Design also obtained planning permission for). The scheme also included a proposed detached garage with habitable space above.

Planning permission has been obtained for the demolition of an existing house on Durham Road, Spennymoor to create three terraced dwellings and one bungalow. The client will be looking to sell the site with the benefit of outline planning approval.

We are delighted to announce that after long drawn out dialogue with the planning authority, outline permission has been granted for the construction of a single dwelling at Sherwood Close, Barnard Castle. The site posed many challenges, mainly the existence of a group TPO; however a successful case for the dwelling was put forward and now provides a self-build opportunity in the town of Barnard Castle.

We are delighted to announce also this week that full planning permission has been granted for the demolition of derelict farm buildings at Newtown Farm, Spennymoor for the construction 5 dormer bungalows.

We are happy to announce planning approval has been granted for the construction of an additional five bedroom dwelling on land North East of New Road, Witton Park, Bishop Auckland. The plot is the fourth being offered as self build plots on the site, with permission granted for three plots to the north of the site last year.

We are delighted to announce for a fifth consecutive year that we've been shortlisted for the Northern LABC Building Excellence Awards! We provided Architectural Services to The Auckland Project to renovate the Grade II listed building known as Old Bank Chambers in the Bishop Auckland Marketplace into The Mining Art Gallery. The Gallery is the first of its kind, and is the first in a string of developments being undertaken in the Town Centre by The Auckland Project.

Planning permission has been received to demolish the remains of Kings Head Cottages at Royal Oak near Heighington and construct three new dwellings. It was a requirement for the frontage of the development to replicate the existing appearance of the now derelict building, however a more modern approach has been taken for the rear of the dwellings which will have extensive views across the countryside.

We are delighted to announce that a planning application to diversify a former diary farm at Toft Hill, Bishop Auckland into a new Holiday Park was unanimously backed by Durham County Council's Planning Committee yesterday. The Holiday Park will provide camping pitches, camping pod and safari tent style accommodation and will capture open views across Teesdale given its elevated position. The approval is the conclusion of 18 months of dialog with the Planning Authority to ensure an acceptable solution was achieved between our client's aspirations and the Planning Authority's requirements.

It has been a very busy start to the new year for the PlanArch Design team, but it is good to see approvals come through for two projects since being back after the Christmas break.
Firstly planning permission was granted for a camping pod site at Escomb, Bishop Auckland which looks to be a very interesting venture for our client.
Secondly, after months of detailed negotiations with the planning authority, outline approval was granted for a new bungalow for our client. Permission was also granted for a commercial premises/building on the land adjacent for their business at New Coundon, Bishop Auckland.

This afternoon, we are delighted to announce that our project to re-develop The Pig Farm at Green View, Hamsterley has been unanimously backed by the planning committee, despite the planning officers recommendation the application be refused on landscape grounds. Outline planning approval has been granted for up to 12no. dwellings, which as a practice we see as a very hard fought victory! The scheme represents a huge opportunity for the village, as it proposes the removal o...f a long-standing issue in the village, that of a pig farm, and its replacement with new, housing which will bring new life-blood into the village, with the prospect of reinforcing the well-being of the future of the village, with such support as the prospect of new children for the village primary school. It will also allow our client to re-invest in a more suitable and modern farming site to continue their family farming enterprise.
