A big thank you must go to our amazing volunteer group, "the printing devils". Behind the scenes our special volunteers have been hard cleaning and preserving metal type from our vast collection for 2 years. We've calculated today that they've cleaned over 40,000 pieces in total!!
The invention of the printing press completely transformed our society and how we accessed information. Come along to our recreated printers on the street to discover all about the history of the printing press and our important collection that our volunteers are working hard to preserve.

'Hope In The Great War' opens on Tuesday! This compelling exhibition, created by RNLI focuses on heroic wartime rescues during World War I from around the coasts of Britain. The stories include that of the rescue of the 'Rohilla', wrecked off Whitby, which involved the lifeboat from Teesmouth. These fascinating stories of danger, heroism and hope are told through atmospheric and family-friendly multimedia displays, which offer visitors of all ages the opportunity to learn about the bravery of the volunteers of the RNLI. This exhibition is free with museum admission. http://www.prestonparkmuseum.co.uk/events /single-event/…

Wonderful place, we come here regularly. I also want to thank whoever handed my son's phone in, you have made a 12 year old boy very happy!

Today we visited Preston Park museum and grounds, it was a lovely day out. Tickets into the museum last a year which I think is great value. The customer service received from the staff at reception and the volunteers around the old street was fantastic, they made everybody feel very welcome. My only grumble would be that the tea room only has one high chair and as prams are also not allowed in this meant we were unable to have a cup of tea and cake!

User

Thank you for a fantastic Easter afternoon. Loads to do for my little girl, putting a big smile on her face that is still there now. A really well thought out event, held together by friendly and helpful staff. Best £2.50 I’ve spent.

User

Such a good place to visit , we had a lovely time. We were just intended on visiting butterfly world as didn't know there was other things there. So surprised there was a huge park, mini golf, boats to hire on the river ,£10 for half an hour , £15 for an hour. The museum which was only £5 per family was brilliant , once you make your way around you come to a door which leads onto what I would describe as a mini beamish . Fantastic day out!

User

Preston park hosted us for our full wedding yesterday. We were married in the beautiful winter garden. Enjoyed afternoon tea in the billiard room and had a great party in the music room. The organisation was exceptional. Eloise and the rest of the team did a brilliant job and our guests were really impressed by the beautiful venue. Thank you all for helping to make our day so special x

User

Lovely place I visited as a child, then took my children, now take the grandkids xxxx

User

Lovely family day out with the grandchildren and nieces & nephews. It’s good to find a place that you can visit without it costing a fortune. A £5 family ticket lasts TWELVE MONTHS!! what a bargain. It’s a lovely small museum and old fashioned shops actually serving goods! We were lucky to find craft tables where the children could make things. It was a pity about the dreadful weather but that didn’t spoil our enjoyment. The children got back in the car covered in mud from the play park but very happy.

User

Lovely day our, excellent price and even better we get a ticket that allows us to go back and explore for a whole year! Lots of activities for children with an added bonus of being able to dress up and just generally have a fantastic day! Set in a lovely ground we also poppednro butterfly world which was another part of a great day out! Recommend it highly!

User

Absolutely love Preston park I spent time there in my childhood and have seen it change so much over the years I took my own children there regularly and now as a childminders The play area has lots of fun stuff for the kids a lovely cafe and the museum is brilliant. Staff are very helpful and friendly, always willing to chat about Middlesbrough and Stockton. The walk along the river bank is also great We have met lots of people walking their dogs willing to stop to chat and let the children interact with their pets. A great day out for all ages.

User

Lovely park and play area for children

However cafe closed and we needed baby change access for grandson which is locked and key located in the cafe 🤷‍♀️👶🏼

User

All credit to Stockton Council, extremely busy today and little wonder with all of the facilities on offer, it has been a while since we visited but won't be leaving it so long again. You can sometimes overlook what's on your doorstep when considering things to do on a sunny day. My wife has asked me to make special comments about the toilets which were very clean and well cared for - it's one of her pet hates/likes when we make decisions about where to go so that's a thumbs up! (Big thanks to Sharon apparently for doing a great job!)

User

Very disappointed, attended the Christmas bazaar to write our letters to santa, as we have done for the past 2 years. No letters from santa have arrived and its sunday xmas eve so no chance of them being here today. Messaged yesterday but had no reply. Now have 2 daughters worried santa wont come. Will not be doing this next year.

User

If i was rating the museum this would have got 0 stars, the 2stars are for the grounds!, the museum has no historical character Anymore its been painted and changed around the whole place was so disappointing and gift shop has become tacky it used to sell beautiful jewellery and gem stones, not to mention half the museum has gone no longer has periodic rooms which i loved as a kid and the old smell has gone which personally i love it goes with historic places, also big games room has gone that was great for family's!

Will not be returning this would not keep my attention as an adult or child!! Another period building ruined!

User

Very disappointed today that you were unable to let my desperate 3yr old in to use the toilets without having to join the big queue to get in. We already had tickets and were not trying to queue jump and your suggestion to go to the other toilets at the other side of the park was not much help when she could barely hold it in as it was. Will not be returning.
