Went for lunch today (Good Friday) knew it would be busy so anticipated a wait which we we're informed of at the bar. Ordered fish and chips for 2. Atmosphere in the bar was relaxed and friendly and the staff were lovely and chatty. We waited a long time for the food but we expected this and just enjoyed our drink and the atmosphere. Food arrived after about an hour but the staff kept us informed of the delay and we were fine about it. When the food arrived it was delicious and what I appreciated most was the fact that they hadn't rushed it through so it was cooked perfectly. The batter on the fish was crispy and not at all soggy. I think it's so easy for food to be rushed and undercooked when venues are busy which compromises the quality but this wasn't the case at all. I would prefer to wait and have a perfect meal that comprise on time and have a mediocre one. I would imagine on a regular week day the wait for food wouldn't be as long so looking forward to revisiting soon.

The welcomeŌĆÖs always warm and the food is always great from coffee & cake to a three course dinner and everything inbetween. The seafood chowder and the salt and chilli squid are particular favourites of ours.

User

Really beautiful inside and lovely view . Quite a big menu something for everyoneŌĆÖs taste . Have some canny social nights arranged with quiz bands etc . Definatly worth a visit ! Just noticed 2 for one on cocktails Monday to Thursday too ...now your talking ! Oh and the music is great !

User

Fantastic place - welcoming staff, the drinks are fairly priced, and the food is delicious! I'd definitely recommend making a visit - also, go to the comedy night on a Thursday!

User

Dropped in for tea last night, with My daughter. She said it was the best calendar she'd had for a long time! I had fish and chips, or should I say whale! The batter was dark and crisp, just how I like it, hate it when the batter us still gloopy under the outer golden layer. Home made chunky chips as well, struggled to eat it all! Will definitely be back.

User

Called in here on a February afternoon after walking 3 miles along the Quayside. Never been before drinks were reasonably priced & food was excellent. Service was excellent from a very bubbly barmaid with an Irish accent will certainly be back when we can sit outside & look at the boats in the Marina. Well worth a visit.

Visited on mother's day with my partner and daughter. I love the feel of the place, casual and relaxed. I had high hopes as have been following on line for a while and the food looked good as did the reviews. Unfortunately I was left disappointed. The food was tasty but the portions were really small. I had the chilli squid and had 3 small rings on a pile of greenery. I told myself it was a oversight and waited for my roast beef Sunday lunch. Disappointed again, 2 small half slices of beef where cooked well done after requesting pink and were cold. 3 pieces of carrot and a small amount of cabbage was it for the veg. I was was very underwhelmed as was my hubby. We thought it may be because of it being mothers day but the place wasn't very busy. I was so wanting it to be great but I was left feeling hungry and disappointed. Will try again on one of the event nights.

User

We have been for a drink before but thought we would try the food this time. Ordered food at the bar. A drink was brought over to us and waited an hour for our food so we had to leave. Such a shame very dissapointed! Also ordered a water during this time but fhat wasnt brought either! Dont mind waiting but an hour is a bit of a joke on a friday for good friday fish and chips! Wont be coming back!

User

Visited for the first time today as I've followed online for a while. Staff lovely and friendly. Ordered 2 of the hot beef sandwiches off the lunch menu. They were awful. Tiny brioche buns with 2 small slices of chewy beef, and 2 small roast potatoes that were hard inside! Probably one of the worst meals I've had in a pub. Informed the waitress who apologised and said she would tell the chef?? In fairness the other meals that were coming out of the kitchen looked lovely. Won't be hurrying back.
