We have had a black female kitten brought in who was found in Lynemouth. She is approximately 4 months old and we'd love to find her owners so she can be home for Christmas! Please call 01670512275 if you think she may belong to you.

Kevin has been very helpful this morning! He was helping our nurses in the laboratory and finding all sorts of interesting things down the microscope! The microscope is used a lot in the lab for finding weird and wonderful cells, bacteria and even creepy crawlies! Luckily they stay on the slide and don’t migrate off!

User

So it seems Kevin was a tad hungry after his long journey from the North Pole and Christmas tree decorating yesterday!
We found him raiding our cupboards in the consulting rooms looking for some treats.
I can’t imagine them being his usual festive snack but he seemed to have been enjoying them!

User

So we’ve had an interesting new arrival at Robson and Prescott HQ overnight!! We have arrived at the hospital this morning to a beautifully decorated tree and a very creative elf called Kevin!
It seems Kevin will be with us during the run up to Christmas Day and no doubt getting very involved in our work here at the hospital.
... Come follow his adventure with us as we find out what he’s been up to once the majority of us go home each night!
Don’t forget to keep an eye out for him when you come see us at the surgery!
Welcome Kevin!

***KENNEL COUGH***
We have recently seen a large influx of dogs coming into the surgery with strains of the kennel cough virus.
This is a respiratory infection caused by either a bacteria or a virus and can be VERY contagious amongst dogs. The infection can be transmitted by aerosols released when an infected dog coughs, direct contact with the infected dog or by the sharing of contaminated objects.
... Kennel cough can spread rapidly. It is called kennel cough as it can quickly spread through boarding kennels where a large amount of dogs are in close proximity to each other. This can now also be related to dogs that go to doggy day care but it can also be spread when a dog greets another dog simply out on a walk.
The infection causes a persistent nonproductive cough which may sound like your pet has something caught in its throat, they are gagging and trying to clear their throat. It can also be described as a deep 'honking' cough.
Any dog can catch kennel cough and there are vaccines available additionally to your boosters that can protect against both the bacterial and viral form and reduce the severity of symptoms.
If you would like your dog vaccinated or you are concerned your dog may actually have kennel cough then please call your nearest branch to make an appointment for an examination and let us know over the phone your concern regarding this infection so we can make an appropriate appointment. We would also advise against allowing your dog to interact with others especially in large groups until examined.

Firework season is almost upon us, and unfortunately it can be very stressful for our pets. Plug in diffusers, collars and sprays can all help to alleviate this stress, so from now until 31st December we are offering 20% off all Feliway and Adaptil products at all of our surgeries. Why not call in and have a look?
Not in conjunction with any other offers.

User

Domino thoroughly enjoyed his visit today to see one of our nurses for a weight check and parasite control application. He was so relaxed he was reluctant to leave! We love seeing our patients so relaxed in what can sometimes be a busy scary environment for them.

Robson and Prescott are amazing and I highly recommend them.

The Alnwick branch see me regularly with both my cats and are so kind and caring. One of my babies has a heart condition and Cat and Sarah know her almost as well as I do. They picked up the problem and gave quick treatment which probably saved her life. They gave quick referrals and after trips to Morpeth for further tests, Sarah always rings to follow up with me.

The staff at Alnwick are amazing and all of them genuinely care about the animals and their owners. They are able to reassure me as a crazy cat lady and always encourage me to ring when I’m concerned. I would never go elsewhere as the quality of care for my girls is fabulous.

Thank you Thelma, Julie, Sarah (nurse), Cat and Sarah Haggie. You are amazing. Love Susan, Libby and Trixie

Our beloved dog Murphy was unfortunate enough to need your services over the last weekend. Although you tried your best for him he was just too tired and ready to go. The way Chris and his team dealt with both Murphy and us was amazing. And then today we received a card with his paw print in - just beautiful. Thank you so much x

Nikki Wilson the physio/hydrotherapist at R&P has done an amazing job on all three of my working collies, from recovering injuries to keeping them fit for work and competition. She is an extremely knowledgeable and talented lady and goes out of her way to get/keep my dogs fully fit. The passion she puts into her work is first class. R&P are lucky vets to have such talent working for them, I would recommend Nikki to anyone she is the best around for miles and my dogs adore her. Thanks Nikki love from me, Tyne, Minx and Rhum

User

Nikki Wilson the hydrotherapist at R&P did a fantastic job with my Basset hound Charlie. He slipped and ruptured a disc resulting in him being unable to walk. I wasn't sure he would recover, but hydro and the home exercises Nikki gave him got him back on all paws. She is full of knowledge and explained everything step by step about his spinal condition. She is very experienced and approachable. I visited other physiotherapists but they were no where near as dedicated as her. I would recommend Nikki to anyone. Thank you Charlie and Sara

My 3 year old chocolate Labrador was unfortunately put to sleep on Saturday 21 April. In his short but full life both him and myself have used almost all of services from R&P. Each and every they have been superb. Whether it was routine vaccinations or the poor vet who had to put on rubber gloves to find a piece of plastic which got stuck up his backside when he ate my Mam's garden light I have had excellent service. During his life Bailey had two major knee operations and all aspects, Surgeon, Veterinary Nurses and Hydrotherpists were brilliant. My final contact with the vets was last Saturday when I had to make an emergency call when he collapsed in pain. The on call vet and early morning staff were phenomenal, we were seen 45 minutes later conducted an emergency X-ray and gave me the devastating news later that day that he had an aggressive tumour. I picked up his remains 6 days later. When I do finally get another dog I will return and use R&P again

User

Just want to say a massive thank you to all the Robson and Prescott staff on behalf of the Drape family and our bedlington terrier Roxy. Roxy was rushed to the vets after being attacked by another dog on the beach. The staff were absolutely wonderful, can’t thank them enough for saving our little baby

User

I took my leopard gecko violet yesturday for an xray as she had a small lump on her shoulder she was a day patient i was worried sick but the nurses were so lovely with her which made it easier for me to leave her in there care. It turned out she had soft tissue and no further treatment was needed. I would like to say a huge thank you to all who looked after her and to sam prescott who is a fantastic reptile vet. You guys to a great job!!

User

I had to take my dog to see them on Boxing Day at Morpeth, all I can say is wonderful staff, couldn’t of been more supportive and helpful. Sadly Franki had to be put to sleep, however they made a traumatic bloody horrible day that little bearable. Thank you so much for your support and help, I loved my little man with all our hearts and miss him greatly but I no his last day was spent with us and animal people who genuinely care about animals and not cash

User

Having used R/P for all my dogs over the years once again I found myself having my latest dog Amber put to sleep she was diagnosed with an aggressive tumour 15 weeks ago .The vet we requested wasn't available but the vet we saw was amazing a really lovely man who understood what we were going through but did a tremendous job so thank you yet again to your team

User

Had to take our 15 yr old Lab to get put to sleep, it was done in the most dignified and compassionate way, he slept away peacefully in our arms, no rush to say our goodbyes. Thank you Millie for your compassion and understanding, we won’t ever forget it, you made an extremely traumatic time more bearable for us.

User

Had my cat in tonight at the Seaton Delaval branch. Couldn't have a bad word to say. She's such a nervous cat having been a stray for many years and is so scared of new people and the vet (didn't catch her name) and Emma were absolute superstars with her. So helpful and informative, it's nice to know that the people who care for animals when they're not 100% are so lovely. Thank you

User

From walking in the door you feel instantly welcome, the staff are so lovely, we have a greyhound Angel who is a bit of a wimp but the vets & nurses are fantastic with us. Would highly recommend :-)

User

First class staff giving a first class service keep up the good work

User

All my dogs are registered with Robson and Prescott..wouldn't take them anywhere else. I had to take my old man bailey in last month to be put to sleep due to ill health, all staff were fantastic and back in today with my little girl to have a lump removed on her paw..always fantastic friendly service and thank you to Lisa for looking after her for me..would recommend to anyone who needs a vet

5* for Nikki Wilson Hydrotherapist

Ozzy my 10 year old GSD is a frequent visitor for hydrotherapy sessions on the treadmill. He has arthritis in his spine & left hock. Nikki is great with Ozzy, and takes a keen interest in him and his health. She will only ask him to work at a pace and time that is suitable for him. I would not trust him in the care of anyone else. She constantly assesses and monitors his progress and will adjust his sessions accordingly. Nikki is very friendly, extremely knowledgable and very professional at what she does. I would not hesitate in recommending her to anyone who requires a canine hydrotherapist.

I came to this Veterinary Surgery, with a fledgling blackbird that had fallen from a tree in my garden. After several days of waiting, and seeing it was both hurt and that it's parents were feeding it less and less, I decided to take it to to this surgery on recommendation.

I must say, while the professionalism of this veterinary is in no doubt, the customer service is something to be desired. At this place, and that of the place in Bedlington, the receptionist/admin staff have failed to call back to the numerous inquiries I've made, both before and after I've brought the injured bird in.

To sum it up, you're pet may get good service, do no expect this to be applied to pet owners, who have to do all the leg work to find out their animal's health progress.

User

All I'm going to say is some vets are better than others my cat gets really stressed he had an injection booster 3 weeks ago and had to have his other yesterday the vet tried to weigh him even though i said they did this 3 weeks prior he kept jumping down of the bench she took no notice of me kept telling me to pick him up and hold him not so easy when he's trying to scratch and bite you she took ages he was crying all the time i was so annoyed when i left injection took seconds could of saved him and me more stress

User

I've been quoted one price and paid a higher price on two occasions now (one a consult and another clipping hamster teeth). Also, why do reception (admin) staff book exotic pets in with non-exotic trained vets? I was told to bring my guinea pig back so that Sam could examine him … so I have to pay another consultation fee? A bit annoyed because when I phoned I did request for him. If a vet has no exotics training why allow consults of exotics with them!

User

Been using Robson and Prescott for many years, for various pets, but they have been poor since they were taken over. Last appointment was 45 mins late, I felt as if the appointment was rushed and left with absolutely no answers whatsoever. Then they charged me nearly £40. Will not be going back again
