About Royal Northern Sinfonia
Founded in 1958, Royal Northern Sinfonia is based at Sage Gateshead and is the only full-time chamber orchestra in the UK.

June and Vic have been members of RNS' audience since Sage Gateshead opened in 2004 – June remembers driving to work past the site as the venue was being built, with workmen climbing over the roof, and being excited to see the finished product.
Vic told us that he “can’t remember my first RNS concert, but it must have been at City Hall – I’m 96 years old!” For June, RNS means “a wide variety of lovely music from fantastic musicians.”

Eva turned 10 years old on the day this photo was taken! As part of her birthday celebrations, she attended the ‘RNS Sampler’ with her grandparents and listened to our Sample Baroque and Sample Classical concerts.
Eva’s first RNS concert was ‘Paddington Bear’s First Concert’ back in 2015, which she has a real soft-spot for. She also attended the Star Wars performance in 2017, dressed as Rae, and had her photograph taken with the Storm Troopers. Eva loves both classical and jazz music, and plays the harp and piano.

Internationally renowned violinist Viktoria Yurievna Mullova returns to Sage Gateshead to perform with RNS on Friday 3 May.
Performing a selection of pieces by Arvo Pärt, this will be Mullova's final appearance with RNS as part of our 60th Anniversary Season.
