About Safe And Sound, Stories Of Emergency Response In The Tees Valley

Safe and Sound brings to life stories of emergency response hidden within our Partner museums' social history collections.

Safe And Sound, Stories Of Emergency Response In The Tees Valley Description

Safe and Sound, Stories of Emergency Response in the Tees Valley is a two year collaborative project between the Museum of Hartlepool, The Head of Steam Darlington Railway Museum, and The Dorman and Captain Cook Museums in Middlesbrough.

We aim to widen knowledge of and public involvement with our partner museums' social history collections - especially those relating to emergency response and the individual men and women who have served our communities for over 200 years.

We will use our collections to kick-start research, and collect stories and objects from the local community - not just of those who worked in the emergency services, but also of the everyday hero who responded courageously to an emergency situation.

As well as reading about whats happening day to day, you can also keep up to date with Safe and Sound through a series of quarterly newsletters which will give information on the history of the emergency services in the area, and the objects, photographs and stories that have been uncovered along the way.

The project will culminate in a publication, an interactive website, and a touring exhibition where you can see for yourselves the stories objects can tell.
