Scotchcoulthard Holiday Cottages Description
Scotchcoulthard Holiday Cottages is situated four miles north of Hadrian's Wall in The Northumberland National Park which has Dark Sky Status. It is necessary to cross the Hadrian's Wall to reach Scotchcoulthard and the sites of Housesteads, Vindolanda and The Roman Army Museum are only a short distance away.
Although remote, Scotchcoulthard is not isolated. It is possible to be parked in The Metro Centre, Newcastle, Carlisle, The Lake District or Scotland within an hour.
Set on a small farm within 178 acres it is surrounded by splendid scenery with magnificent views and not another inhabited dwelling in sight.
Dogs are welcome with no restriction on number and no extra charge. For those without dogs ours are happy to step into the breach.
The Games room has a table tennis table and 3 /4 snooker table with books, toys, DVD's, jigsaws, games and a piano with a selection of music.

Hawthorn has had a little makeover!
What a great place. Cottage was perfect. Dogs loved the walks. Fell in love with the gorgeous Sadie ��
What a fab place what you need to get away to chill and relax and you can take your pets with you.
What a GEM, booked at short notice. Stayed in Hope Sike with 2 dobermans. This place is superb for a holiday. Traveled for 8 hrs and our faces lit up when we found our home for the week.Every morning at 6.00am would walk the dogs in the field and see the sun rise, and every evening would walk the dogs to see the most fantastic sunsets.Words alone don't do justice to this setting, you must visit if you come up this way.Thank you so much for a brilliant holiday,we will be back. Bailey&Indi also want to come back.x

Absolutely fantastic
We have visited twice and stayed in two different cottages. We have loved our times in both of the cottages.
The farm is surrounded by beautiful countryside and the owners are very friendly and can't help enough. Lots of lovely animals outside and a roaring log fire indoors. What more do you need to relax? Oh yeah there is also a pool and a games room! ;)
We have just returned from a fantastic week in High Tipalt.
The location is fabulous - surrounded by rolling hills full of sheep and cows. We loved being in the middle of nowhere, loved the gorgeous dogs who lived on the farm and hardly left our side all week.
I would recommend for anyone who likes long walks in the fresh air and relaxing in front of a log fire on an evening. Perfect.
Recently back from a 7 day stay at High Tipalt Cottage, a proper country cottage with stone floors, beamed ceilings and full of character features. We agree totally with all the positive comments posted so we won’t repeat them here. Our adult children (and partners) joined us over the weekend so we took advantage not only the numerous games room facilities but also the cottages had access to a discounted Clay Pigeon shooting school which could be arranged in the nearby fields on the farm. I was originally concerned over the noise as it was so peaceful and quiet but assured by other residents the noise was hardly noticeable for the couple of hours it took. The guys who set it up for us were both friendly & patient and a great time was had by all.
If you are not frightened to be prise yourself away from your phone, emails and social media, willing to wait until the cattle standing on the road decide to move when they are ready, love dogs (either your own or a “borrowed” farm dog or two), willing to entertain yourself, appreciate walking in the open country side and enjoy cooking your own food then this is a perfect place for you.

Just back from our 3rd visit to Scotchcoulthard & loved every minute of our short break. Loved seeing the dogs & the sheep grazing outside our window!�. Always feel relaxed after a break at the cottages, we will be returning again ��.
If you're looking for a relaxing dog walking holiday or just a short break this is the place for you. Extremely dog friendly people, beautiful cottages with fabulous views. Treat yourself to a holiday in Northumberland, you will not be disappointed.
Had an absolute wonderful visit. Real family time. Such warm welcome from everyone, including the dogs, Heidi, Megan and Sadie. Heidi made herself at home, much to our dogs discomfort, lol. Wonderful place and people. So much to do in the surrounding areas. Will be back in the future.xx

Absolutely loved my stay in Hawthorn with my wee doggy and my pal and her 3 dogs. Brilliant cozy accommodation, wonderful walks and views and so tranquil. I can't recommend this place highly enough if you want to get away from it all. Can't wait to go back🐕🐶😉😉
