I see my gym and my classes as a way to develop ‘holistic fitness’ (potential name for my gym?) that is very adaptable to all people. Being strong, mobile, flexible and injury free are my biggest priorities for myself and my members.

Wish there was something like this down south where I live, have gone to couple of classes and always felt welcome and felt the difference of a good work out. Great community!

User

Wish I was there in ! But still love spidercise's mail about healthy eating and Wendy's videos .. would loved it even more if she could modify the moves for beginners like me:)

User

Was a bit nervous to be honest but everyone is very very friendly and I can really feel a difference after only 3 sessions and a week on the food plan. Great!!!

User

The workout is intense, works all parts of the body and pretty varied between the sessions. Great sessions.

Started back at spidercise after a long (too long) break. I play a lot of football and generally used that as an excuse not to go to the gym or do other exercise. Anyway, the football season is over so thought I'd better get back to the group training otherwise I'd get stuck in a rut and do nothing. Safe to say it was hard but really enjoyed it and I got pushed to my limit. I realise again that being football fit is different to being fit!! I'm aiming to do at least 3 sessions per week and hoping that come the start of the forthcoming football season, I'll actually be body fit and not just able to run around a football pitch. If you're reading this and not a member and thinking about getting involved, do it, you won't regret it. Great bunch and loads of equipment for varying levels of fitness/experience. Right, time for a lie down.

Spidercise has changed my physical and emotional strengths. Been going for 1 year now and always look forward to another session. The atmosphere is relaxed and we have a lot of fun too. Do recommend it greatly. Suits all abilities

I have been training at Spidercise for almost four years now and it is a great place to excercise. The sessions are varied and fun even if they are tough, but lots of encouragement and motivation is given from the fantastic coaches so you can reach your personal goal. Keeping fit and healthy isn't the only reason i go to spidercise. I have built some amazing friendships with other members, everyone is friendly, welcoming and encouraging to one another and it feels like family. I couldn't train anywhere else....spidercise is an amazing and unique gym and I couldn't recommend it more :-)

User

Everyone from all different walks of background, fitness, age and sizes are integrated into spidercise as part of a family, where everyone are encouraged and motivated to achieve their personal goals, whether it is strength or weights lost. I sure love this place. You see me in here everyday.

User

Before coming to Spidercise I used to be a member of a regular gym which offered a variety of exercise classes and I loved them all. I did a lot of Spinning and Body Combat as well as weight based classes and running. My love for exercise and my lack of knowledge in areas such as technique, listening to my body and adequate resting periods have resulted in me having misaligned knee caps due to muscle imbalances which has then caused the cartilage to wear away. This started about 3 years ago and I have since further damaged the cartilage under my left knee cap. I couldn't squat, lunge, jump, nor run. For about six months I couldn’t kneel either as my knee was full of water. I had also started to avoid going down any stairs as not only was it painful but it felt unsafe as I was uncertain whether my knee could support my weight.

I had physiotherapy, specially made orthotics, acupuncture, massage, resting periods as well as increasing fish oils and eating anti-inflammatory foods but nothing really made much difference. Naturally I found it discouraging, and at times upsetting, to think that I may have to give up activities that I have enjoyed doing for years.

As the pain in my left knee subsided I returned to the gym but there really was very little I could do with regards to group exercise so I was limited to the gym floor but I was apprehensive as I did not really know which exercises to do to strengthen my legs without causing further damage. A friend recommended Spidercise, and as much as I really wanted to try it and be involved, I shrugged it off as it seemed a bit pointless seeing as I believed I could probably only partake in a small portion of the classes and the thought actually made me a little sad!

But as I was doing less and less in my gym I decided to go and speak to Paul and see whether it was worth me trying the sessions or not. He reassured me that I wouldn’t need to run, jump or do anything with impact which would further irritate my knees and that he would suggest alternative exercises for me while the other members took part in such activities. He also suggested that with time and patience I should be able to build up the strength of the muscles which surround my knees which should reduce my pain. I felt really encouraged by Paul’s confidence and also the great atmosphere within the gym. The existing members were all really friendly and welcoming.

I initially just signed up for the 21 day trial and loved my first class! Paul was true to his word and gave me plenty of options if something aggravated my knee. He also reiterated that I needed to be patient and improvement will come. He made all the other trainers aware of my injuries too so I did not need to have to say at each session; all of whom were very welcoming and gave me great alternatives too.

Technique is of great importance at Spidercise. All the trainers help you get the best from the exercises and help try and avoid injury. When I first started, about 2 months ago, I could only squat a few inches without pain but after being given different variations to aid me and build the strength up, such as using the TRX straps to get deeper, I can now nearly do a full body weight squat!

Of course, I am not running or jumping yet, and I am not entirely sure I ever shall due to cartilage not healing well but I feel much stronger, more confident in my body’s ability and of course much happier because I am back being involved in group session doing exercises which I personally prefer in comparison to Yoga or Pilates. I don’t even feel like I am missing out not being able to take part in the activities either as I can still feel a change in my body without them. It’s only been 2 months and my knees feel less painful and I don’t avoid stairs anymore! So, if you have an injury and are debating whether or not to try Spidercise I would encourage you to just do it. Be sure to chat with Paul first and when you start come with plenty of patience and positivity
