St. Andrew’S Church, Sunderland Description

"The cathedral of the Arts and Crafts movement - right here in Roker! "
Built in 1907, St. Andrew's is recognised as one of the finest churches of the first half of the twentieth century and the masterpiece of Edward Schroeder Prior - but it's not just a beautiful building!
Our main service is a Eucharist on Sundays at 9: 30am, but there's much more to us than that! Why not come along and find out for yourself?!

LENT COURSE FOR 2020 - SUPERSTAR! This year’s Lent Course is based on questions raised by the rock opera ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’. David Wilbourne, a former Bishop of Llandaff wrote the course booklet and there will be five sessions this year each held on Tuesday evenings at 7.30 pm (replacing the usual Bible Study). The first session is on Tuesday 25th February. Everyone is welcome.

If you are visiting Sunderland we would like to invite you to come along to our Church on Sunday as we gather together to worship the Lord. We have 2 Holy Communion services at 8 am and 9.30 am and a warm welcome awaits you at both of these. If the church doors are locked due to the weather conditions this means we are meeting in the Priestman Hall which is to the rear of the church. Find out more about our parish and its churches by visiting our website at www.monkwearmouthcofe.com

Make a joyful shout for joy to the Lord, all you lands. Serve the Lord with gladness; Come before His presence with singing. Know that the Lord, He is God. It is He who made us, and not we ourselves;... We are His people, and the sheep of His pasture. Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name. For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting, and His truth endures to all generations. Psalm 100: 1-5

The weather is forecast to be bad tomorrow so wrap up well and be sure to hang on to your umbrella! If the church doors are locked this means we are meeting in the Priestman Hall (to the rear of the church) due to the weather conditions. Whatever the weather the welcome inside will always be a warm one! Hope to see you there!

Have you heard of Gather2Gether? This meeting combines chat, prayers, discussions, Bible readings and activities which explore our thoughts and Christian beliefs. Each meeting is different and lasts around 90 minutes. After the meeting we have a chat, coffee/Tea and maybe a slice of cake! Why don't you come along and see what you're missing. You can join in with what's happening or if you prefer just sit and observe - it's up to you. We meet in the Vestry Meeting Room at All Saints' Church at 6.30 pm this Sunday. A warm welcome awaits you!
