Proud to have played at half-time for Durham Miners' Association Brass Band yesterday. Thanks to the officials of SAFC for making us so welcome and the spectators in the ground as well. On a personal level I very much appreciate the fact that you are playing your part in recognising and honouring the mining heritage of the North East. I hope good times return very soon for the team and for the loyal supporters of the club. I am confident that I am speaking for everyone in the band that we would love to have the opportunity to return to play again at the Stadium of Light sometime in the future. All the best and thank you.

User

I normally enjoy being here most when I’m absolutely steaming which tends to take the edge off. I come with such a feeling of hope which is always expelled with such vigour by the players However the food and service is amazing so when you’re in the Montgomery Suite you can expect to be looked after and win, lose or draw I always have a great day

I have recently arranged a season ticket for my dad who is disabled and in a wheelchair. I've made a couple of calls to the ticket office and they could not have been more helpful. We received our season tickets within a day. The package for disabled supporter and carer is really good. On the day the guy giving us disabled access in 46a was great as were the bar staff when we ordered drinks, dad loved his half of Worthingtons. Sadly the players were not as competent in their jobs but hopefully will improve as the season gets on.

User

Great ground.. and the service in the ground... better than elland road.. no problems at at all ... 10/10 for the service... and peter who dropped us off and picked us up and took us for a drink before the game.. the best away game that I have been to ... thank you Sunderland FC

User

Great ground great supporters. The staff are nice and friendly though. Some of the younger staff serving are a little slow.Dont know Much about the drinks you want.Exspensive but no different to other grounds.Stadium of light is a fabulous ground.

User

a good view in the away end,and the service at the food and drink stations was ok.The only gripe was the escort the coaches received, all that happened was that we followed a police car along with the flow of traffic,no point at all.

User

Sunderland vs Derby

Went with my son and daughter, no problems with access around the ground and all other fans were welcoming. After being live on sky sports news with a Sunderland fan and his lad we made our way into the stadium. Not the best turnstile position but stewards helpful and joking with the kids.

We got free vouchers for a drink and the service was not the best, very disorganised. Staff need training and a better way for cue forming as this was starting to become a problem 45 mins before the game

Great view until everyone stood up to watch so my daughter struggled as per usual at away games.

I always ask for near the front so we can if needed sit and watch the game.

Didn't understand the five rows in front of us that filled up with people who were sitting behind me before we scored and filled up more after half time ?

High police presence in the ground and all seemed good, Officers friendly and welcoming.

Drew 1-1 and no problems leaving the ground as most people chatting and looking forward to the season ahead.

User

My first visit to find the away supporters crammed into the top tier of one end of the stadium. You have to trust that all safety precautions are adequate but you do get a good view from a fair distance though. Modern football stadiums like this need large volumes of supporters to create any kind of atmosphere, the facilities in and around the ground are very good.

User

I was more than happy with my first visit yesterday has a Leeds fan in away end pint and pie was bang on stewards was was fine with us too had a great view and we won 2-0 happy days

User

Great going to see and support my team.

User

Good ground to start of the season with. Great view from top stand in away area and very stylish. Staff were friendly and so we're the home supporters. Although there was no singing or atmosphere from home support through out the game *even when scored * great day and night spent.

User

Good ground - away fans high up but still a good view. A lot of steps to get up for us away fans but its a good work out (lol). Up the Blades

User

Just another plastic bowl really, you might as well be at Cardiff, Southampton, Reading, Derby. Leicester, Coventry, Doncaster etc etc. But it is what it is, and that's modern football for you. Most interesting thing is to be found outside...the Bob Stoke statue

User

Was at the Leeds game Saturday teatime, the catering is terrible was giving a different pie to the 1 ordered and the daughters pastry on her meat pie was like concrete. After queuing for about 5 minutes there was nxt to nothing left.

User

Visited the stadium of light for the first time yesterday for the Sunderland vs Celtic game. The bar service inside the ground was nothing short of catastrophic. The staff were all completely incompetent. I visited bar 9 'Ice bar' and on two separate occasions I was charged two different amounts for my pint (both times the amount was incorrect, I was over charged twice). The staff have no concept of health and safety, people were pushing in and they were getting served which in turn ended up in a mass stampede at the bar which became incredibly dangerous. Still with the situation escalating quickly the bar manager who himself looked like he had just checked out of a mental asylum and I can only assume he was still on some high dose narcotics causing hallucinations as he seemed oblivious to situation unfolding in front of him and he and his staff showed absolutely no sense of pace. At one point it took 3 members of staff to open a bottle of beer and on average it was taking 5-10 minutes per person to be served, frankly ludicrous I'm sure you would agree. Having spoken to a few celtic fans after the game they told me of their long wait trying to enter the stadium. There were a few thousand still outside the ground trying to get in 5 minutes before kick off, again causing unnecessary danger as people rushed to try and enter the ground. I saw staff frantically opening more doors after being told to let everyone in by the police. It all seemed very poorly organised to be honest. I have heard the stadium referred to as 'the stadium of shite' it certainly did a good job of living up to this reputation.

User

The ground was very poor in the away end, treated like cattle, no smoking area for away fans but there was one for the home fans, the home support was very poor, the borrowers that lived under the floor boards made more noise, piss poor fans, piss poor ground! Thanks for the 3 points

User

Shambolic trying to get into the ground. 9000 odd tickets sold and yet SAFC still didn't have enough organisation to get people through the turnstiles. Facilities ok inside the ground and decent view but getting in was a disaster.

User

Rubbish football, rubbish catering, rubbish service, washed down by more rubbish football.

The catering at SOL seriously needs to be looked at. Southern Chicken (counter 25) had 2 security stewards directing customers into two queues. The catering staff were slow, to say the least. It took us nearly 15 minutes to get served. 4 beers, 1 still water and 1 white tea. Order repeated 4 time as young lady was clueless. Warm beer, and a coffee received. Water was perfectly chilled though! It was as if they'd been taken aback that customers descended on them at half time.

And security dubious. Did the Celtic fans just carry a crate if flares in?
