We'll it is nearly that time, I hope to be moving on this week and you will have new people at the helm. I have made many great friends in the 5 years I have been here, and I am sorry to be leaving, but, it's not the same without john. I wish everyone good health and happiness, thanks for all the good times Diana

To all the tortuga pirates who came to see my big brother off yesterday dressed in full regalia I personally would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart it was a fantastic and fitting way to honour our John and he would of really appreciated you paying your respects dressed as he remembered and loved each and everyone of you. In addition I would also like to personally thank all the family and friends who contributed to making his send off such a special one that I will always remember and cherish. And to those that were unable to attend I thank you all for you kind words of condolences. I also hope you all continue to support Diana and all the staff at the star inn. Thanks again.

This was our second outing to the Star Inn the Harbour, Whitby and, once again, we were delighted. I resisted having the same starter as last time - the rockpool of shellfish, which is possibly the nicest thing ever - but was not disappointed by the potted confit duck which came with delicious soft fruits. Fortunately, John had the rockpool, and I was able to savour it once more. Our mains of lobster thermidor, with wensleydale crust and parsley mash (for me) and halibut with melted potted shrimps and sea vegetables were sensational, especially with the vegetable sides and the very naughty fries with parmesan and truffle. Amazingly, we managed to squeeze down a dessert between us and the rhubarb, custard and ice cream with gingerbread was a terrific end to a sensational meal. The Pinot Noir from Andrew Pern's special selection went well with everything. The service was excellent and one of the waiting staff surprised us by remembering my starter from two weeks ago. We booked our next visit before we left and we are so happy that this new kid on the Whitby block is already so well established.
