OK everyone, who has a 3-legged dog that would like to be a film star? Unfortunately the 3-legged dogs we have rehomed do all seem to have been lurchers Julia so we can't help you ourselves. Not a lurcher, not small - there must be one out there! x

User

Wow! Well done Samantha, and what a FANTASTIC total! You are a star, thank you so much x

Spotlight dog! Please share KIMMY has been with us since June! This beautiful girly is in need of a new home. She walks well with other dogs here at the kennels and enjoys getting out to socialise with them. She is looking for a home where she would be the only pet as she can guard her toys & food. For this reason she needs an adult only home that are experienced dog owners. Kimmy is easy to walk and is a consistent favourite with the volunteers who walk her for her good man...ners and her amazing cuddles! We believe Kimmy to be an Akita crossbreed, she is not very large but is quite chunky and solid. She's 4 years old and very much thinks like a puppy, she loves to play fetch and have her belly tickled :) If you could be the home Kimmy has been waiting for please contact us! If you can't #adopt please share for Kimmy. www.strayaid.org.uk 03009994247 She'll be waiting!

Today I'd like to share with you our wonderful lurchers needing homes. There are a lot of myths that go around about lurchers, that they need lots of exercise, that they need a good run every day, they're too big etc. These amazing dogs are possibly some of the laziest you'll meet, lurchers typically can run at super high speed but they don't have much stamina so without endurance training they don't need to be running all day. These pointy nosed beauties love lazing around ...the house and being made a fuss of. We get quite a few bull lurchers (staffie x lurcher) which is the most wonderful combination of staffie and sighthound that makes for a truly loyal family companion. Lurchers make up approximately 80% of the dogs we rehome and sadly so many are overlooked because people don't understand how great they can be in a loving home. A majority of our lurchers have excellent lead manners and walk beautifully making them an ideal choice for older adopters looking for something gentle and calm.
Please share your lurchers with us and help us spread the word and help all the unwanted, stray and abandoned lurchers get loving new homes.

How handsome is our Bailey! This beautiful boy still needs a home, he can be very choosy over his dog friends so would need a pet free home. He’s lovely to walk and a great food lover! 3 years old and ready to go x

User

cannot thank you enough for everything you have done for Ginny (brindle lurcher) thank you so much for allowing me to rehome her and giving her the love she needs. We’ve had a long day lots of treats and attention so we are now tucked up in the big bed having cuddles!! Thank you so much stray aid, you are an amazing charity x

We visited today as we had been thinking about getting a rescue dog. We look at Dogs Trust yesterday and were put off due to the staff's unfriendly nature towards us (we presumed it was because we are only a young couple). On arrival today the staff were friendly and helpful and within minutes we were meeting a Jack Russel called Marley. Now, only 8 hours later, Marley is part of the family and is currently snuggled up on his new bed watching, of course, Marley and Me! How wonderful that we found our perfect companion and have got him home the same day. Thank you to all the staff we saw today xxx

We adopted Asha and our experience of stray aid was positive. Ok other rehoming places might do home visits but stray aid must re-home 5x as many dogs, reducing the amount of time they have to stay without a home to a minimum. As far as we're concerned they do a great job with finding forever homes for thrown out/abandoned dogs.

Thanks to everyone at Stray Aid our parents have just got Odin from you and we all love him to bits already and is already settling into his new home. We are going to promote the charity at our business and help raise funds that you really do need to carry on doing such a fantastic job looking after all the unwanted animals. Best wishes Mike & Tiff Cox.

I was here earlier today to hand in my gorgues Princess Minnie, they were very helpful over the phone and face to face also. I asked them several questions they knew what they were talking about. They knew I didn't want to leave Minnie there but the circumstances that i'm in which is no fault of Minnie's, they were also very sympathetic towards me as I was crying because I was devasted to rehome. But I am confident she will be rehomed to a nice and loving family who will love Minnie and give her a good life just as much as I did. Thank you so much to everyone at Stray Aid

I can't thank stray aid enough for my rescue boy, I hounded the rehoming site for 10 days after seeing him on the found page as was told it was first come first serve but this didn't bother me 1 bit I knew I was going to get my boy the morning he went up for rehoming I was there within 10 mins to get him . I've now had him for 4 1/2 years and if ever I have any questions about behaviour or any problems I know I can ring these guys and get advice. You lot do a great job in looking after these dogs that have been abandoned or have been straying then get left as the owners can't be bothered to pay the fee to get their pets out. Well done guys keep up the good work

Had a great expirience re homing from here.

A lot of volunteer staff & found they were so genuine & caring towards the dogs.

I found staff polite to us but as with all humans our perceptions and expiriences can differ, suited us as a rehoming centre but may not work for everyone.

You cant currently walk around all he dogs in the kennels but the premises are not owned by them- and just havent been set up as a walk around kennel set up like in some other rehoming centres, they are trying to buy their site... so who knows this may change.

I reccomend them. They took my dog after he was found by someone & gave him medical help. He was still thin and scared when we got him but TLC and time has helped him fullfill his potential. He is a happy pet.

Friendly staff in dog friendly charity shops too. We visit with my dog.

We fostered two dogs from stray aid. The first one a x patterdale. Perfect little dog. We wanted a playmate so fostered a xjack Russel. She hadn't been in long. She showed very quickly she was extremely aggressive with other dogs. We took her to the vet for help. They phoned stray aid for some help. They refused. Saying they don't have any more to do with the dogs once they have left. I and the vet were disgusted by this attitude. Luckily for the dog we are prepared to put the hours and money into the re sensitising this poor dog. It's going to be hard and maybe we won't win. Who knows .Stray aid don't care. They got the money

I rang about 6 months ago for desperate help regarding one of my cats, when they were just starting to take cats. The adviser was not at all helpful, seemed disinterested and I felt like they were putting me off. Told me to ring back in a few days. Needless to say I didn't bother. Probably as they couldn't make any money out my cat.

money grabbing little twats went up to scan a do they got to keep hold of it untill the owner's come get it more like to get the bloody money stupid idiots don't go there !!!!

Stray Aid

I think the Staff and more importantly Management need a course on Communication and Common Courtesy after being shouted at and repeatedly told to "crack on" by Jeremy; the manager, only then to have my call disconnected is utterly appalling!

After seeing a puppy advertised on Stray Aid website I followed their protocol, added my interest and taken my passport for prof of I.d. I was informed the puppy would of course have to have all vaccinations and neutering before leaving for its forever home and would be on the re-homing list after 7 days. The puppy would be ideal to fit in happily with my family and Labrador. I rang early morning on the seventh day to enquire about the puppy as I was informed it's on a first come first served basis only to be told the puppy had gone already to Finder which is against protocol, the puppy is too young to be neutered, commonly carried out at 4-6 months, couldn't have had its vaccinations yet and hadn't been advertised on the re-homing list as yet.

I asked for an address to log a formal complaint only to be repeatedly shouted at and told to "crack on" by the Manager after he intercepted my call with the Receptionist. I merely requested an address and was refused. I only hope that the puppy is being well cared for and neutered so not to be used for breeding. There seems to be underhanded management practices here and the attitude from Jeremy the Manager was disgusting.

The time span for vaccinations and neutering doesn't ring true. The puppy had only been held there 7days and had not been advertised.

I can see from reviews a lot of strays have been happily rehomed but there is an awful lot of complaints also that need addressing! Another of which is why are there not home checks?

We obviously need more re-homing shelters but Management need to be made accountable.

I won't be applying to give a Stray a forever home from this shelter when this is how people and more importantly animals are being treated.

Had our dog nearly four month from here now she had vet treatment straight away after getting her for kennel cough and ear infection. We have also just found out her microchip in which we were giving a number for has no information on whatsoever and it has now cost us to do it.
