It’s very common to feel that a stroke has affected your relationships, including your sex life. A stroke can cause physical and emotional problems that have an impact on your sex life. For many people it can be upsetting or embarrassing to talk about sexual issues, even though many of them can be treated. Our guide, ‘Sex after stroke’ explains some of the sexual problems experienced after a stroke, and offers practical advice and sources of help. It can be downloaded at https://www.stroke.org.uk/resources/sex-a fter-stroke

As strokes happen without warning, if you care for someone who has had a stroke, it‚Äôs most likely that you‚Äôve become a carer very suddenly. Life for the stroke survivor, and their carer, is never the same again. This past week has been Carers Week, when we justifiably celebrate the brilliant work done by carers. Our guide, ‚ÄòStroke: a carer‚Äôs guide‚Äô outlines some of the ways you can support a stroke survivor, and explains what help and support is available to carers. It is available to download at www.stroke.org.uk/resources/stroke-carer‚ Äôs-guide

June 10 – 16 is Diabetes Week. Did you know that Diabetes almost doubles your risk of having a stroke and is a contributing factor in 20% of strokes in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. High levels of sugar in the blood can damage the blood vessels, making them harder and narrower and more likes to become blocked. Our information leaflet, ‘Diabetes and stroke’, explains the main symptoms of diabetes and the link between diabetes and stroke. It is available to downloaded at: https://www.stroke.org.uk/resources/diabe tes-and-stroke
