About Take A Break

This is the Facebook Fan Page of Take A Break, North East England's largest home cleaning and ironing service.

Take A Break Description

Take A Break operates in a different way to every other domestic cleaning business in the North east of England.

Most cleaning companies either combine their agency fee with the cleaner's rate and quote you a gross hourly rate of say £12 per hour (sometimes lower or higher) while others prefer the 'all in' price route where they'll quote a fee of say, £50, occasionally much higher - and tell you they'll clean your home every week, fortnight, or month for that figure.

In reality, the 'all in' price normally conceals a higher than average hourly rate.

We operate instead by simply charging one, low, fixed agency fee, payable once per term, be that over 2, 3, 6 or 12 months, with all periods being extendable and the cleaner being paid £8 per hour.

If you take our popular 12 month rate as an example, our agency fee is cut in half for year two and works out at approximately £1. 80 per week to obtain our FULL management service, of course there's the cleaner to pay as well of course, currently (as stated) that's £8 per hour, but we sincerely believe you'll find it virtually impossible to find another, bonafide cleaning business who will offer you cleaning and /or ironing for £8 per hour plus a small fee, equivalent to approximately £1. 80 per week for their full service if you're having cleaning or ironing long-term.

Now at SHC we do a fair bit of writing, e.g., to our blog, main website as well as advertising, to name but three, so we’re quite interested in suggestions as to how we can improve and save time when involved in this part of our business.
If you, or someone you know writes a lot, such as preparing reports or compiling newsletters etc, see if the site below can assist you.

Now I’m a bloke but I admit to being a wuss where spiders are concerned, not those small ones about the size of a one pence coin, although I’m still not overly keen - no, I’m talking about these MASSIVE ones that seem to know when you’ve spotted them walking (or should I say ‘running’) across your carpet.
It’s said they’re generally male’s looking for mates, well they can use Tinder or some other app to find the love of their life, I won’t allow them to use my house as a glor...ified disco to eye up the local talent.
You know the type I mean, they stop dead, especially if you put the light on and seem to raise themselves up in the air and think by keeping still you’ll ignore them - NOT A CHANCE.
But when they run - my God - can they shift, they make Usain Bolt look like he’s using a Zimmer - but that’s not fast enough for me - I pick up the nearest thing to hand and give them a whopping big headache - which an aspirin won’t help with.
Awful I know, but I AM very kind to wasps, bumble bees and even wood lice, escorting them from my home in a protective jar, or in the case of wool lice - on my hand.
Anyway, after this rather longer than expected diatribe about spiders (a pet hate) did you guess? Here’s a tip I came across to keep them at bay - the writer has at least one person who’ll try it - me!

Final post on cheaper fragrances, here’s a link to a site which lists the various venues that have these cheaper perfumes for sale:

Yes, ok, this post is from the Daily Mail online website too which they (in turn) had came across on the Good Housekeeping Institute site.
Thought it worthwhile sharing, so here’s the link:

Ok, not about house cleaning, however this post may be of interest to visitors to this site because many readers will wear perfume at some point, or aftershave.
Do you think that perfume companies make huge profits? Do you wish you could obtain your favourite fragrance (men or women’s) at a cheaper price?
Well, I came across this article on the online version of the Daily Mail, which they’d actually came across following their research of a Facebook group.
... Here’s the article below with contains details of a list of perfumes which allegedly smell the same (or as near as makes any difference) to their much more expensive French counterparts.
The list isn’t exhaustive, every major brand isn’t represented via a cheaper counterpart, but there’s a reasonable sized list, so it may be worth while checking out.
Now we’re not saying that the length of time the cheaper fragrance lingers will be similar to the real thing, but that said, they could do, nevertheless, at the price these retail for, they represent a good way to save money on your favourite fragrance (assuming it’s available) after all, the profits made by the French perfumeries is allegedly very high, so why not retain some of that money for yourself?
