Teesside Architectural Salvage Description

In the late 1990's Lee Skelton 'served his time' under the guidance of Pete Chapman at Au Temps Perdu. A keen interest in reclaimed materials was retained to the point Teesside Architectural was formed.

A few barn finds from this weeks salvage hunting...

We’ve salvaged these superb organ pipes, & supporting pitch pine woodwork. It’s a large item, but it will make a superb wall feature in the right setting.
We’ve also salvaged a number of smaller internal organ pipes, ideal for wind chimes, flower displays, garden features etc. We also salvaged four chunky Art Nouveau rads, & a pair of 1920’s stained glass doors.

We started on a job today in Whitley Bay salvaging some huge pitch pine pews. The central pews are nearly 20ft. We’ll be stripping the majority of the pews down to flat pack form for ease of transport & storage. The pews can be recut to a variety of sizes.

Today we salvaged a nice run of ten solid oak church pews from Bilton Grange United Reform Church in Harrogate. Lovely patina. We can have them cut down to size. Thanks to Big Jonsey for helping me. For future reference never salvage in Harrogate whilst the Yorkshire Show is on, 2 bloody hours to complete the last mile & a half...

Me & the Mrs will be having a stall at this year’s Festival Of Thrift. Pop over & say hello...

We’ve had this lovely Carrara & Sienna marble fire surround for a couple of years now, Dales of Thirsk have just lovingly restored it. It’s now ready for a new home.

A few items we salvaged last week. Art Nouveau rads from the former Zetland Hotel which is currently undergoing a refurbishment, & soon to be opening as a brasserie, & bar. The restaurant will be in the amazing tiled room, pop in once it’s open & have a bite to eat. The pots where salvaged from Albert Rd in M’bro, & the Victorian terracotta wall coping tiles from a house on green lane in Stockton.. thanks to my mate Big Jonsey for helping to shift the radiators.

1950’s Benjamin Crysteel enamelled shades fully re-wired, supplied with 2 meters of hanging chain, 2 meters of braided 3-core flex & ceiling hook. Good to go... Originally salvaged from a large 1950’s substation on Haverton Hill Road.

A nice little run of fourteen 1920’s tulip opalines on brass stems we salvaged last week from Scotland

User

A few odds & sods we’ve salvaged over the last week or so....

User

Not a bad restoration job if I do say so myself. We’ve had this insert a couple of years now, but with a little bit of TLC we found it a new home in Sedgefield...

User

Two quality shop display counters salvaged from my old mate Chris Brooks who’s taken over the old sewing shop in Normanby...

Two cracking sets of fireplace tiles we’ve recently cleaned up, can’t beat the originals...

A few odds & sods we’ve picked up from Leeds this week. A huge cast iron fire surround, slate surround, & a number of salt glazed chimney pots. Also my dads knocked up some cable drum table & chair sets (they’re bloody massive)

User

A few odds & sods we’ve picked up over the last week or so, including four carved oak pews

User

A great run of salt glazed water troughs salvaged earlier this week from a farm near Darlington

THEFT ALERT - All help appreciated in tracking my items down. We had a break in last Thursday just before 8pm, & had 2 sandstone staddle stones, 4 crown pots, sandstone sun dial, & sandstone birdbath stolen & damage to our fence. We've had no luck in tracking the items down, possibly stolen to order for a garden. CCTV shows the van, but we can't distinguish a reg.
