Went to the Mining Gallery today with my husband and son the art is fantastic and well worth a visit. The staff and volunteers are really knowledgeable and very friendly.

We visited the private chapel yesterday afternoon and were very privileged to have the very knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide to ourselves as there were no other visitors then. We were told so much about the chapel and the history and found it really interesting. We will definitely come back again to see the art gallery devoted to the miner's art. Thank you.

Visited the Mining Art Gallery today with my son. Beautiful and thought provoking works of art. Very apt for the area, we can't wait to see what the future holds for Bishop Auckland. :-)

User

Very exciting for the area and such a lovely, well put together project, brimming with culture!

Injecting pride and spirit back into our historic town "Bishop Auckland" is a challenge. There are those that have that have thrown the towel in and need to be encouraged and educated to promote "well being "for our town . As a Grand Parents I know that my Grand Children will be growing up , surrounded by on going developments , tracing our forefathers history . I take my hat off to all involved in this task.

I visited Auckland Castle and took the ‘behind the scenes’ tour today. The lady on the front gate was very friendly and knowledgable about the local area and the various projects that are under development and chatted whilst we waited for the next tour.

Being able to look at the Castle while it’s being renovated and some long hidden historic features are being revealed was amazing. Our tour guide was very friendly and informative and kept the tour interesting for the whole group. I would definitely recommend anyone with even a slight interest in local history or castles to attend this special tour. I can’t wait to go back once the renovations and the Faith Museum are finished and open to the public.

Thank you Auckland Project for the opportunity to see this in progress.
