We've just returned from a 2 night stay and already I cant wait to return. As some of the other reviews state, the staff are extremely welcoming ans nothing is too much trouble. We had the 8 course tasting menu on our first evening and it was out of this world! Amazing tastes and flavours all cooked to perfection. Whilst I have to admit I was a bit dubvious about some of the courses (as I dont particularly like some foods) but I tried them all and finished every course (bar one due to an allergy) and they were delicious. So please dont be put off by any of the coursed because you dont like something. We were in a double room which was immaculate and a good size. There's tea, coffee etc in the rooms along with fresh fruit and biscuits. Shower was great and I loved the shower gel that was provided to us in the room too. Breakfast was brillliant and the black pudding even better! ...I could go on and on about how lovely it was....but we shall be back as we want to return to the observatory during one of the winter months so we'll no doubt take advantage and book into the hotel again. Would highly reccommend!

We went there for our wedding anniversary at the start of October and it was a fantastic experience from first check in to check out. We had the taster menu with paired wine and it was worth every penny.

Breakfast was perfect and nothing was too much trouble for the staff.

I ordered some flowers to be delivered the day before our anniversary, they kept them chilled overnight and then delivered them to the room as we had breakfast.

I will definitely return but this time I’ll take our dog Max to this very dog friendly hotel.

We had the taster menu with wine pairing and it was good value, the beetroot course in particular was amazing. They let us stay in car park with our motorhome which also has ehu and we were made to feel really welcome. Paid for breakfast in the morning which was great too

We are staying at the hotel this evening but wanted to post a review straight away. This place is great ... friendly and helpful staff, luxurious accommodation, amazing food and even the most spectacular skies this evening. The ultimate in relaxation! This evening's meal was outstanding, from the complimentary wild mushroom and truffle soup the chef sent out to us, through a delicious pan fried cajun chicken and prawns to the most sublime ice cream I've ever tasted (recommend the liquorice and toffee!!)

We will almost certainly be back.

Totally impromptu visit for a spot of lunch as we passed through Wark on our way back home from Newcastle. A pleasant welcome and very courteous staff. We both had the battered hake and it was very nice indeed (Talisker & Nevis both thought so too!), followed by a wedge of cheesecake to share, lovely!. A nice selection of beers too. I only wish we were staying so we could sample some of the others. Thanks to all and we hope to visit again sometime!

The staff at The Battlesteads are lovely and very efficient, service is second to non. We had the five course taster menu with the observatory experience and couldn’t fault it one bit. We stayed overnight room 8 and again had no complaints it’s all about the little touches like a fruit bowl, biscuits and a choice of filter or instant coffee as well as several teas and hot chocolates. The bathroom was well equipped with toiletries and duper clean. Can’t wait to return next time for a few nights x

User

One night stay booked as visiting Keilder Observatory at midnight . Thought the pace was lovely .. Staff helpful and very pleasant and the food we had on the evening was beautiful.

Our room was warm cozy and the beds extremely comfortable. Breakfast was a delight and we will definitely return as planning more trips to that neck of the woods and visiting Battlesteads own observatory . Thoroughly enjoyable !!!!!

User

Lovely food, great staff who can't do enough for you, a Lovely place to stay.

User

Just returned from a short stay here, beautiful location, lovely accommodation, friendly staff and excellent food - would highly recommend the stargazing night in the observatory attached to the hotel x

User

I was very surprised and pleased with how much the staff care about dogs.

Our Cocker spaniel was spoilt..waiting in our room was a doggy welcome pack.

Lovely large blanket...and towel. Treats ,poobags.and presentation box with more goodies in. sauage was given to her at breakfast.

Customer service was 1st class..

The room was very clean and pleasure to stay in..fruit was also left for us..

Can't praise this company and staff enough..

We only stayed 1 night as we was walk the whole of Hadrain's Wall but hopfully will visit the hotel again.

Great food, nice bar area complete with fire. Friendly and efficient staff. Stayed in one of the lodges out back. Clean and well presented. Fantastic spa bath and shower. Stayed as a surprise for myself and did not disappoint. Would recommend

User

Fantastic stay at Battlesteads Inn. Exceptional food and attentive staff. Superior lodge absolutely beautiful and worth the upgrade. Observatory a must. Can't wait to return in October.

User

Fabulous stay in one of the lodges, and a wonderful meal in the restaurant. Staff were courteous and informative with nothing to much bother.

User

Excellent lodges, really good food, and your pets are welcomed.

I could not fault my stay on Saturday night.

User

Can't fault this place, beautiful 6 course tasting menu, great service, very friendly staff. The evening ended with star gazing from the observatory which was part of the department. Chris and Stuart were the hosts and were excellent and although a little cloud we had an amazing night, I can highly recommend the whole evening.

User

Another lovely stay at Battlesteads. We were upgraded to a lodge room which was gorgeous . The staff are great ,the food is fantastic and the dark sky is brilliant for star gazing . Hope to return again .

User

After being turned away by the black bull around the corner we came across this restaurant. We were welcomed straight in (even though there was 8 of us). The service was impeccable. I decided to have a starter which was rabbit liver. It was out of this world. Absolutely fantastic. We then all had the carvery. The meat was cooked to perfection and the veg was delicious. Next up were the desserts. Two of us had chocolate brownies and two of us had sticky toffee pudding. The sticky toffee pudding was amazing. Only issue was it could have been bigger. I would 100 percent recommend this restaurant to anyone who is visiting Wark

User

A warm welcome and a cold beer after a long drive. This hotel/pub is a fantastic place to stay, we were only stopping over for 1 night but we will definitely be coming back. We loved the food & drink and lovely dog friendly staff. We also admired their eco-friendly ethos and are looking forward to a dark sky experience in their observatory next time.

User

A group of us stayed for one night whilst attending a Car Rally. Staff were very friendly. The beer garden was lovely to sit in for a wee refreshment before dinner. All 10 of us agreed the food was very nice, everyone thoroughly enjoyed it. Rooms were nice and clean with nice touches such as fruit baskets. As we had to leave before breakfast they kindly gave us all a packed lunch containing sandwiches, fruit juice, crisps, fruit, cereal bar & chocolate biscuit - a kind gesture that we have not had anywhere else. Would definitely stay again.
