Well the day is here and the вШАпЄП has returned. Unfortuantly we wont be serving public breakfasts until monday as our kitchen prepares for the Madness of today.. While visiting Alnwick we were looking for a dog friendly pub and we certainly found one, Teddy our 5 month old puppy was made so welcome and he certainly loved the treats he was given. The staff were friendly and very helpful nothing was too much trouble

The food we had was absolutely beautiful very well presented and full of flavour I would highly recommend the black swan to anyone visiting Alnwick.

Well, itвАЩs the first time IвАЩve been to this establishment. At first glance from the outside, it looks small...until you walk in. Nice and spacious. Was greeted immediately by a lady who sat us at our reserved table. Service of the lady was on point. CouldnвАЩt fault her at all. Food came to the table...me being a big lad, looked straight at the portion size. Perfect! Came with vegetables in a dish and a massive knob of butter on top...which you serve yourself. Food tasted divine. Cooked to perfection.

Without a shadow of a doubt, I will return here...AND SOON!

Visited The Black Swan on New Years Eve with my parents for Sunday lunch, I have to say this has got to be one of the best we have had. Food is divine home cooked and presentation is fabulous. The girls are really lovely too which goes a long way as customer service was outstanding too. Often have a little run up the coast and will be visiting again to try something different.

The black pudding and chorizo was amazing- well cooked and the apple chutney with baby spinach the perfect accompaniment.



We all went for the lamb shank with sweet potato smash, buttered cabbage and mint gravy. All of us loved the main course, the chef certainly does a fantastic job and we complimented the staff and chef and left a well deserved tip and very satisfied.

The Black Swan is a very friendly sociable Hotel/Pub with a very good menu and a Gin Club on Tuesday. Reasonable prices and good service. Small well equipped rooms on the third floor. Staff are very keen to please with breakfast well cooked and served. This is situated in a central place in the lovely town of Alnwick with Barter Books nearby where you can browse, read drink coffee and eat cake.

Thank you to Scott and his staff for a delicious Sunday Lunch. Food and service was lovely, staff were very helpful. Thanks again, we will be back.

Stayed last night with my Husband and our little pooch!! What a fab Dog Friendly place!! Absolutely amazing Sunday lunch followed by a few drinks and watching the locals sing on the karaoke was a great stay!! Breakfast didnвАЩt disappoint either... thank you for a lovely stay we will be back x

Popped in on Monday what a quaint and friendly little pub. Ordered food which was excellent, very quick service and friendly staff, also very reasonable. I have already recommended this fab pub to friends, and would definitely go back next time IвАЩm in Alnwick.

Popped in after visiting to castle. With my two kids. Fresh food garaunteed Even chicken nuggets were real chicken. The kids Burger was a proper beef mince fresh. Hot pot was lush. Nice pint .very friendly table service from a young lady with a smile

Just returned from stopover after seeing a concert. Staff lovely and friendly, room although small was clean and perfect for a couple of nights. Food amazing, breakfast lovely but huge we were stuffed all day! Would definitely stay again. пњљ

Just had a wonderful stay at the Black Swan. The room whilst small was clean and comfortable and the Jacuzzi was a godsend after a day out walking. There was noise from the pub below as people were leaving but thatвАЩs to be expected really and didnвАЩt at all spoil the stay. We also ate in the pub on the Saturday evening and the food was to die for, as was the breakfast on the Sunday morning. We found the drinks reasonably priced for such a well located pub and all the staff that we spoke to were polite and friendly. We honestly canвАЩt find anything to fault and canвАЩt praise the pub or the staff enough. Thanks for a lovely stay!

Just had a lovely 2 nice stay at the Black Swan whilst in Alnwick for two of my friend's wedding. Had an evening meal on Friday and the food was lovely breakfasts were spot on. Staff were so friendly and welcoming. Lovely atmosphere. And as for the gin. Well what can I say but spoilt for choice. Fab stay around. Just one question - who makes the rhubarb gin? And also the pink grapefruit?

I stayed here for one evening. The room was nicely decorated, clean wth a comfy bed, lots of wardrobe space, a shower room en suite. Included in the price was a lovely breakfast and we found the chef very accommodating; he made us lovely filling hot vegan breakfasts and there was Soya milk available. Lovely hosts, nice pub downstairs and we had a good night sleep. We would definitely come back.

How lucky we were to find this lovely place. The staff were excellent and accommodating. The food was fabulous. Large portions too.? Real food !!!!!! Dog friendly too. Very reasonably priced. To top it all 100+ gins to choose from. Thanks

Lovely traditional Sunday lunch staff attentive . It's was Mothers day and we were given a free prosecco which was a lovely treat . Would highly recommend

We were in Room 3 for two nights last Thursday. The room and ensuite were very small but the thing that ruined it for us was the bed. It was incredibly uncomfortable to the point when I didnвАЩt sleep on the first night. Our room was right above the ladies toilets and we could hear people talking (possibly arguing) at 11.45pm. We could also hear a washing machine all night. On the second day I asked if we could move rooms and unfortunately there were none available. The staff were very polite and apologised when we made the decision to leave. I was told I would be called by the manager to try and вАШsort things outвАЩ on the Saturday. I did not receive this call and so I rang them on Saturday evening only to be told that the manager wasnвАЩt in that day and IвАЩd be rang on Sunday... still waiting for this call. Very disappointed that no effort has been made to rectify this.

Food came to the table...me being a big lad, looked straight at the portion size. Perfect! Came with vegetables in a dish and a massive knob of butter on top...which you serve yourself. Food tasted divine. Cooked to perfection.

Visited The Black Swan on New Years Eve with my parents for Sunday lunch, I have to say this has got to be one of the best we have had. Food is divine home cooked and presentation is fabulous. The girls are really lovely too which goes a long way as customer service was outstanding too. Often have a little run up the coast and will be visiting again to try something different.

The black pudding and chorizo was amazing- well cooked and the apple chutney with baby spinach the perfect accompaniment.



We all went for the lamb shank with sweet potato smash, buttered cabbage and mint gravy. All of us loved the main course, the chef certainly does a fantastic job and we complimented the staff and chef and left a well deserved tip and very satisfied.

The Black Swan is a very friendly sociable Hotel/Pub with a very good menu and a Gin Club on Tuesday. Reasonable prices and good service. Small well equipped rooms on the third floor. Staff are very keen to please with breakfast well cooked and served. This is situated in a central place in the lovely town of Alnwick with Barter Books nearby where you can browse, read drink coffee and eat cake.

Thank you to Scott and his staff for a delicious Sunday Lunch. Food and service was lovely, staff were very helpful. Thanks again, we will be back.

Stayed last night with my Husband and our little pooch!! What a fab Dog Friendly place!! Absolutely amazing Sunday lunch followed by a few drinks and watching the locals sing on the karaoke was a great stay!! Breakfast didnвАЩt disappoint either... thank you for a lovely stay we will be back x

Popped in on Monday what a quaint and friendly little pub. Ordered food which was excellent, very quick service and friendly staff, also very reasonable. I have already recommended this fab pub to friends, and would definitely go back next time IвАЩm in Alnwick.

Popped in after visiting to castle. With my two kids. Fresh food garaunteed Even chicken nuggets were real chicken. The kids Burger was a proper beef mince fresh. Hot pot was lush. Nice pint .very friendly table service from a young lady with a smile

Just returned from stopover after seeing a concert. Staff lovely and friendly, room although small was clean and perfect for a couple of nights. Food amazing, breakfast lovely but huge we were stuffed all day! Would definitely stay again. пњљ

Just had a wonderful stay at the Black Swan. The room whilst small was clean and comfortable and the Jacuzzi was a godsend after a day out walking. There was noise from the pub below as people were leaving but thatвАЩs to be expected really and didnвАЩt at all spoil the stay. We also ate in the pub on the Saturday evening and the food was to die for, as was the breakfast on the Sunday morning. We found the drinks reasonably priced for such a well located pub and all the staff that we spoke to were polite and friendly. We honestly canвАЩt find anything to fault and canвАЩt praise the pub or the staff enough. Thanks for a lovely stay!

Just had a lovely 2 nice stay at the Black Swan whilst in Alnwick for two of my friend's wedding. Had an evening meal on Friday and the food was lovely breakfasts were spot on. Staff were so friendly and welcoming. Lovely atmosphere. And as for the gin. Well what can I say but spoilt for choice. Fab stay around. Just one question - who makes the rhubarb gin? And also the pink grapefruit?

I stayed here for one evening. The room was nicely decorated, clean wth a comfy bed, lots of wardrobe space, a shower room en suite. Included in the price was a lovely breakfast and we found the chef very accommodating; he made us lovely filling hot vegan breakfasts and there was Soya milk available. Lovely hosts, nice pub downstairs and we had a good night sleep. We would definitely come back.

How lucky we were to find this lovely place. The staff were excellent and accommodating. The food was fabulous. Large portions too.? Real food !!!!!! Dog friendly too. Very reasonably priced. To top it all 100+ gins to choose from. Thanks

Had a lush chilli cheeseburger and chips washed down with a lovely pint if cloudy Apple yum! Set me up for the day at Jess Glynne concert! Promise to come back so hubby can try your burger lol x

Lovely traditional Sunday lunch staff attentive . It's was Mothers day and we were given a free prosecco which was a lovely treat . Would highly recommend

We were in Room 3 for two nights last Thursday. The room and ensuite were very small but the thing that ruined it for us was the bed. It was incredibly uncomfortable to the point when I didnвАЩt sleep on the first night. Our room was right above the ladies toilets and we could hear people talking (possibly arguing) at 11.45pm. We could also hear a washing machine all night. On the second day I asked if we could move rooms and unfortunately there were none available. The staff were very polite and apologised when we made the decision to leave. I was told I would be called by the manager to try and вАШsort things outвАЩ on the Saturday. I did not receive this call and so I rang them on Saturday evening only to be told that the manager wasnвАЩt in that day and IвАЩd be rang on Sunday... still waiting for this call. Very disappointed that no effort has been made to rectify this.

While visiting Alnwick we were looking for a dog friendly pub and we certainly found one, Teddy our 5 month old puppy was made so welcome and he certainly loved the treats he was given. The staff were friendly and very helpful nothing was too much trouble
