Listen up dear customers, it’s storytime! This is the cautionary tale of Barbara and the Carrots...

It had been a long and difficult week for Barbara and once again she found herself walking through the welcoming doors of The Burrow Licensed Tearoom.
... Cursing her lack of restraint, Barbara eyed the incredible selection of cakes on the counter.
“No Barbara.” She scolded herself internally, “We’ve come for lunch! And a healthy lunch at that!”
The memory of stepping onto those scales at slimming world was still too raw. The disappointed tut of the consultant echoed through her mind and the smirking face of her weight loss rival haunted her. She shuddered.
“I’ll have a salad please.” She told the obliging, incredibly beautiful and amazing waitress Sarah 😉.
“Are you sure about that?” Came a familiar voice.
Barbara groaned. He was back. The chocolate chip on her shoulder.
“What?” She spat at the little devil accusingly as he lounged wickedly on her shoulder. 😈
“A salad?! Really! Barbara that’s rabbit food.”
“Yes devil, I’m aware.” She hissed trying not to look crazy in front of the waitress who she so admired because she was wonderful.
“But consider this Babs, get some cake!”
Barbara sighed exasperatedly.
“Shut Up, you! You remember last time I listened to your advice?”
“Oh yeah.” The devil cackled, “it was so funny! Do you remember Margaret’s face? Judgey bitc-“
“Enough!” Barbara silenced him before turning to the waitress. “Just the salad please.”
“Ask if it’ll have carrots.” The devil whispered.
“Why?”
“Just do it.”
“Will it have carrots?” Barbara called, confused. The waitress had disappeared to make the food in the kitchen and called back a cryptic response of,
“No problem!”
Shrugging, Barbara took a seat and scrolled through her phone, ignoring the chatter of the devil.
Soon the food arrived and to her horror so did a piece of carrot cake! 🍰
“W-what!” She spluttered casting a furious glare at the devil. “You knew that would happen!!”
“Of course I did! Chill your beans Babs, carrots are one of your five a day!”
With a wicked wink at the waitress who grinned, he disappeared in another puff of smoke.
Barbara sighed, pushing the salad aside. If only carrot cake hadn’t been her favourite...

During the holidays, the lovely Lynne from Forget_me_not_art_xx will be hosting some 'Mini Crafter' sessions right here at the Burrow!
They will be taught to create some amazing little trinkets, garden ornaments and even fairy inspired art! To get involved, contact Lynne either via telephone at 07861899067 or via email Lynner95@gmail.com to book your space! It costs £5 per child for the sessions which will last from 10-11am.
BOOKING IS ESSENTIAL DUE TO LIMITED SPACES!
... Although parents do not have to get involved in the crafts, children cannot be left unattended at the premises. You're welcome to sit around the corner away from the crafts and have a nice relaxing cup of tea!!

The Burrow is always welcoming and helpful to our customers with dementia but we hope that this makes things a little easier on both the customers and their carers! 🌻
Every Tuesday between 1:30 and 3pm we will have games/ activities available and specific music tailored to calm and entertain those with dementia. We will make any menu adjustments you require and the carer will receive a free hot drink! 🌸

“Ah crumbs! I just can’t decide which one to get?!” said the customer, in genuine distress as they stared longingly at the cakes on the counter.
Just then, with a puff of smoke and a loud pop, appeared a tiny devil 😈 and an angel 😇upon each of her shoulders! The customer was alarmed but before she could express her confusion, the angel spoke...
“Be good Barbara! Walk away! Imagine what the other women at slimming world would say!”
... Barbara nodded. The angel had a point. She was aiming for her half a stone award...
“Come on Barbara, don’t be a big baby! You know you want a piece! Get the big fat chocolatey one, chocolate is good for your serotonin levels!” The devil hissed, grinning wickedly.
Well now Barbara was confused! The devil also had a point! Chocolate was her favourite and she had been so good this week...
“I could have one bit right angel?” She asked, looking down but the angel was nowhere in sight!
She turned to the devil to ask where she’d gone but was met with the sight of the devil rubbing its belly, crumbs around its mouth and a satisfied grin on its face!
“Well that was tastier than I expected! Get all three Barbs, this world is wicked, why shouldn’t you be!”
And, as quickly as it had appeared, the devil was gone with a wink and smirk. Barbara looked back at the cakes, thinking of the devils advice...
As she left the Burrow with arms full of cake, Barbara realised that life was too short to listen to the angel...(unless it’s angel cake!) 🍰

What a delight this place is! You won't regret your decision to give it a go, I certainly didn't! A very welcoming, cosy and attractive tea rooms with the best food, drinks & sweet treats, that will leave you feeling more than satisfied...even your favourite tipple too! The staff will go out of their way to ensure you have the experience you deserve and are very friendly too! Amazing � x

Well I've been 3 times now and the food has been fantastic each time. Tried a panini, a sausage sandwich and the special turkey, sausage & cranberry was to die for - next time I'm going to try to get up earlier and have my breakfast - or maybe later for afternoon tea, oh! the decision is so difficult - just have to go back twice :) Well done for creating such a wonderful tea room, with fantastic and efficient staff in such a lovely setting. Or as my grandson said in one word SCRUMDIDDLYUMTIOUS!

We celebrated a surprise Golden Wedding Anniversary Celebration at The Burrow last night. We can’t thank Linda and the Burrow team enough. Amazing buffet and the perfect venue for a small cosy event. Thanks again.

Such a lot of effort has gone into making this place look fantastic!! I've sampled the food and coffee all of which is very impressive! Staff are lovely and helpful when it comes to making your selection!!! The prices are incredible for the quality!! Loved it!!

My daughter had a surprise birthday party for me here on Saturday night . It was absolutely fantastic. The food and service were second to none . Lovely friendly staff and a perfect place to have a private party . I would definitely recommend this place to anyone. I will be back soon for coffee and cake . Thank you again x

I came here for my cousin's hen do on Sunday. The staff were welcoming and very helpful. There was 9 of us altogether and we all had afternoon tea. The food was absolutely gorgeous and presented beautifully. We also had refillable tea and coffee. It was such a lovely place, will definitely recommend!

Had my graduation party here last night and it was fantastic. The place was so cute and cosy and looked awesome decorated. There was a lovely atmosphere and the staff were so friendly and actually looked like they were enjoying themselves as there's nothing worse than staff who look like they'd rather be anywhere else in the world! The buffet was fabulous and catered for everyone. I think I'm going to be eating the left overs for quite some time � they made it all to my taste and also did the same with the drinks, asking what we would like them to have in for the night. The DJ was fab and totally made the night, broke the ice and got everyone up dancing and singing. Couldn't recommend the place enough and thank you for such a brilliant night! Xxx

Had an amazing afternoon tea for my mam's retirement. The staff are all amazing, and so accommodating. The food was beautiful especially the chocolate cake. Than you so much

First visit to the Burrow's today for lunch cant fault it food was amazing and the staff so friendly & go the extra mile for u nothing is a problem to them would recommened it to everyone and will certanley be calling again ���

Called in with my mother in law after driving past many times on my journey home from work. To say I wasn't disappointed would be an understatement. Lovely staff fantastic food it is well worth a visit

As a group of 8, we thoroughly enjoyed our Afternoon Tea this afternoon - lovely finger sarnies, delicious cheese and fruit scones, gorgeous cakes (had to bring some home!), unlimited tea/coffee. Cosy tearoom and friendly staff. Just brilliant ...
