Went here for tea last night while I was staying in Newcastle for work, as a woman on her own being out is a little daunting, but the staff here made me feel really welcome, especially the guy in the bar and restaurant....so much I went back again tonight for my tea and a drink. He again made me feel welcome. Such a lovely place and will be going back when I am in Newcastle again.
Recently moved to gosforth- this is now my local and pleased it is! Food is unreal, pies and Sunday lunch are my fave. And also the service has been great every time! (Oh and the gin selection is fab) ;)
Lovely food very attentive staff particularly Cheryl who always goes that extra mile to make sure your dining experience is amazing
Had a lovely Sunday dinner, along with a glass of wine! We where served promptly and our dinners where served in enough time even though the young girl was rushed off her feet, she was always polite and took our request of extra gravy and mint sauce! Couldn't fault the place
Great place to go! Amazing service always! Would recommend to anyone
Food is lovely and reasonably priced
Lovely warm welcome and great service
Highly recommend a visit
Been to the Falcons today for Father's day lunch which was fabulous. Amazing staff so attentive and efficient. Highly recommended.
Beautiful food very helpful and friendly staff would highly recommend
I found the Falcons Nest to be a friendly, comfortable place to eat and to have a meal! The beer is well kept and good value! The staff are friendly and helpful even when presented with a stroppy three year old!
The meal was excellent in the main but I did find the chips not very hot and a little underdone! The steak however was perfectly cooked and very tasty! Others in the party also praised their meals and the service!
I will be returning in the future.
Food was delicious and a good portion. Unfortunately the service was very slow considering there wasn't a lot of people in the restaurant area. No check back on our food and took ages to get our bill.
Definitely recommend the roasted salmon with a generous helping of new potatoes. Service excellent, quick to offer an alternative dessert when hubby not impressed with pastry on (microwaved) Bram, year apple pie.
Can only comment on the drinks / bar as I just popped in for a pre-wedding pint. Ale was a tad expensive, too warm and yeasty like it'd sat too long in the line. Half the bar seating was closed as reserved however people could sit on spare tables in the restaurant which seemed a bit backwards. My wife's wine was good and the place is clean, tidy and cosy.
A bit disappointed, from a chef's perspective, on the limited choice of vegetarian options (ie Hobson's Choice) on the Sunday lunch menu. The veg was lukewarm & served on cool plates (cool as in not warm, not groovy cool). Fair goes, 2 veggie starters but butternut squash seems to be the only dish that is available nowadays for a main. One can get a bit sick of the same old thing, no matter how many various methods it's served. So it's not just the chains (but is mainly).
Hey ho...
They accommodated well for a large group and were welcoming however some meals weren't available at 0730pm and 2 meals came out cold and had to be sent back
Nice pup but a bit skimpy on there sauces for steaks and pud would still go back for a drink
Waited over 45 min for food.
My child’s plate was so hot, I couldn’t touch it. The mash potato was so dry (obviously been under hot lamp)
Husbands portion was smaller than child’s meal!
Food was poor quality.
Sunday Roast - Gammon not pork as advertised. The potatoes had a funny outer taste and were raw in the middle as were the parsnips and carrots. Turkey and cabbage were nice but left £50 down and we were all starving
Just had tea at the Falcons Nest, I had fish and chips and the husband had sirloin steak. we both found our meals tasteless and would not dine here again. Not once did any staff member approach our table and ask if everything was ok. Went to complain but people were queing at the bar so would have been a it of a wait.
Food cold, roast potatoes full of water, gristly meat, very disappointed, waitress was very apologetic couldn’t fault her service but won’t be going again,
