User

Was in The Library for the Russia v Saudi game last Thursday, great spot for sport, Good selection of beers and best of all, Panini World Cup stickers on sale over the bar!!

User

The staff are really friendly and the beer garden has beautiful views of the city. Will refillable coffee at about a pound and decent music you could stay here all day. Plus the foods quite nice too.

User

Super chilled out place, would recommend! shout out to Kieran who always seems to manage to up-sell to the large glass of wine!

User

Staff were very friendly excellent service my husband and I loved it there

User

Staff helpful and friendly enough. Even when it was Varsity was welcoming to Students but atmosphere still great. Welcoming to families also. Had Sharing Platter with my wife plus few portions of wings in various sauces. What can I say....... Fantastic Food was tasty and mouthwatering. Niamh's child portion fish chips was lovely size and she doesn't eat well at best times but she must of enjoyed it. Ate it very well plus some things off our sharing platter. Wings in both blue cheese sauce and peanut and chilli jam were out if this world. We will be back as it was great for all of us. Ales were Three Brothers. Fantastic. Lush

User

Served by Denise who was fab , food was lovely really well priced but most of all the place was really accommodating for children

User

Quality beer and food with some excellent pint pouring from Katie and Jess - would recommend.

User

Probably the best place in Durham to drink, day or night. Service is always great, especially when getting served from Lauren, always smiling and wanting to work!!

User

Our home away from home in Durham. Funky food, great veggy options. Lively. Friendly staff: big smiles from Jessica and Katie.

User

One of the only pubs I can honestly say I've never had a bad experience at. Great service and without a doubt the best pub in Durham. Cracking atmosphere for the England game last night too!

User

I think the library is a cracking place, great vibe and beers etc but most of all the staff make the place. In particular Corinna and Craig who continue to surprise me with their friendliness and warm personalities.

User

I love going to the library the food and drink are great, the staff certainly make the place especially Lauren always happy and smiling

User

Have visited twice now and both times received exceptional service from Lisa, who was more than happy to talk with us about the different drinks on the menu. Great atmosphere! One of Durham’s hidden gems!

User

Booked a table for 6 of us for the Scotland v England, tremendous atmosphere despite the result. Staff as always top drawer and great drinks promotion on Guinness. Best place in Durham to watch the rugby.

User

User

Been coming here regularly for years. Absolutely great service, lovely staff and I always enjoy coming in on my lunch break for a bite to eat, especially when my server is Denise who is just really lovely and always makes sure I have a good time when I come in

User

Always make a point of visiting the Library when in Durham. My friends and I have always enjoyed the experience. I can't understand comments about rude staff, as we have always been impressed with the service, particularly from Denise. It has always been friendly, efficient and helpful. The menu is good, and reasonably priced, and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming.

User

Always go here when I’m up in Durham, and the staff are always very welcoming especially Lauren she’s my fave! - defo a place to visit

User

Nice place. Good atmosphere good choice of drinks only small criticism was not enough bar staff. But would definitely come back.

User

Nice food at reasonable prices, friendly and very helpful staff, great location with outside terrace. Will definitely call again .

User

Saw the Library couple of days before we called in for lunch, reason we chose this venue was because it was a lovely sunny day, and they had outdoor seating overlooking the river. Unfortunately when we arrived at the area yes you guessed people were smoking. I appreciate that smokers need somewhere to smoke but think a separate area for diner's to eat and enjoy the view would be appreciated. We did eat there inside, food was OK for amount paid (meal and drink deal).

User

Nice beer and helpful staff, food was poor. Why does almost all the menu come with cheese? Had the fish and "fries" , the fish was as thin as the skinny fries, all batter. Don't think we will eat there again.

User

Very pricey and waited an age to be served. Granted it was a Saturday night around 9ish but from coming from the boathouse and Fabios which were so much more busier I got served quicker. I was driving and paid £3.95 for a coke and a can of Tango, that's extortionist! Back in Durham this week for my own stag do, but willing to try the place again!

User

They don't know what they're doing. Could be a really good bar if any effort was put in

User

Been here a few times and the vibe was good. But the last time I visited, I decided to try the food. Got the Chicken Tower Burger which tasted off and (I kid you not) like soap. I sent the burger back to replace for the Quinoa Burger. The burger came dry and missing all the cheese (2 different cheeses were advertised). Wouldn't recommend for food.

User

The serving size of the bangers and mash was smaller than the palm of my hand.
