We had the most amazing wedding on 06.05.18. The weather, venue, staff and food was outstanding.

If you want a magical place for your dream wedding this is the place. Molly and the team are so professional and they make your dreams happen.

A big thankyou hugs Tracey n Malcolm x

User

We fell in love with The Parlour immediately and booked up for our wedding straight away.

We loved the relaxed, rustic feel of the place and it suited what we wanted perfectly.

Molly was great in the lead up to the day making sure that she was on hand for any queries we had.

The day itself was incredible. Hottest bank holiday on record which meant it was the perfect place for some shots in the gardens.

The food (as always) was fantastic. All the guests commented on how delicious it was and loved that they could choose what to eat.

The day ran so smoothly which is a credit to all the staff and management.

We wish we could do it all again as it truly was the best day of our lives.

We celebrated our 40th Wedding Anniversary at The Parlour yesterday. The e-mails we have received about the event have been incredibly complimentary, from the food to the service everyone thoroughly enjoyed it and the Northumbrian Buffet was excellent, the roast beef was something else it was so tender and tasty. Can't wait for our 50th - we'll have to think of an excuse to go back sooner!

User

We attended the garden party on Saturday night and had a brilliant time! The event was very well organised, food was great, drinks menu was good and not badly priced, live band and DJ were both very good too! Will definitely be attending the next one! Thanks for a great night out!

Visited a few times for lunch and afternoon tea and couldn't fault it. I had my baby shower in the willow room a few years ago and had such a beautiful afternoon! This is such a lovely venue for parties, baby showers and weddings. Great for lunch too!

User

My daughter Charlotte took me to The Parlour today for a belated Mother’s Day present. We had afternoon tea with prosecco and it was amazing. I had the gentleman’s afternoon tea because it had mini Yorkshire puds with beef as well as a sandwich, sausage roll and ham hock and pease pud tart. Also had a fruit scone with cream and jam and a cheese scone(which came with butter). There was also a whisky and dark chocolate shot and sticky fig and toffee pudding. Couldn’t eat everything so Ashleigh (our server) gave me a box to take the rest of my afternoon tea home. Ashleigh was so friendly and helpful I will definitely go back- it is so pretty -my friend’s daughter is having her wedding there in a couple of years time- I think it will be magicalx

User

Had a wonderful day at the Parlour,it was our Grandaughter's wedding to the beautiful Natalie, couldn't fault the place at all,the staff, the service, were all brilliant, for a wedding there i think you really need a dry sunny day and we certainly got that,to me it was perfection from start to finish!,hats off to everyone at the parlour!!

User

Called into the Parlour today and what a beautiful place! Decided on the afternoon tea for a pre valentines treat and we were not disappointed. The food was beautiful, loved the place and they staff couldn’t do enough for us especially the girl with the ponytail. The place was busy and not many staff working however customer service didn’t reflect this as they couldn’t do enough for us. We were warmly welcomed, orders taken promptly, food and drinks to an excellent standard and very friendly staff! We will be back!

User

Buffet looked fabulous this afternoon at our garden party. Shame I can't eat any of it due to food intolerances however I did enjoy a fabulous chicken salad chef made for me at short notice. Great looking venue too. Cant wait to try a lunch/afternoon tea!

User

We went to the Palour for afternoon tea to celebrate my two daughters birthdays and also had a voucher for afternoon tea.The staff were friendly and warm welcome we had.One of daughter's is fussy what she has in her sandwiches so at first was going to just have a scone with jam and cream but we talked her round in having afternoon tea and asked if she could only have plain ham on hers when it came all three afternoon teas were together and sandwiches were mixed we didn't say anything as she didnt want to make a fuss and was prepared to try and plenty of other things to have.My granddaughter who had a childs afternoon tea was perfect and good value for money I think. Both my daughters don't drink tea or coffee so asked what there could have instead one choose hot chocolate and we were told there would be bit extra to pay for this which we didn't mind but when we recieved our bill we had been charge full price,my other daughter said she would have apple juice which was included and ordered apple juice for my grandaugther which we expected to be included with hers, but cut story short when bill came we had to pay for hot chocolate at £2.85 and apple juice at £2.25

which was full price did ask about this to be told we had to pay for one juice and the price was right for hot chocolate and did say we were told it was a little extra but was told it was right. So in all a bit disappointed about our experience and the extra we had to pay.The question i would like answered is what is the difference between having a hot chocolate instead of coffee.I will go back but probably have coffee and scone as i would know the price without any hidden extras

User

Totally quaint little place. Staff couldn’t have been more helpful or pleasant. Food was delicious- I ordered a sirloin steak on ciabatta but didn’t want the chips that come with it as I knew I couldn’t eat it all. Was surprised to see that I was still charged for them though! The same as I was surprised to see that there was a service charge automatically added to the bill. Although my father was given the option of removing it, I think it should be up to the customer to tip the staff. On this occasion they would have got more than the charge.

All this aside, it wouldn’t stop me returning as it’s a lovely venue

User

I was very dissatisfied with my visit today. We were seated near the door which was constantly in use by members of staff, which meant that me and my family were freezing throughout our stay! We had booked for afternoon tea but after arriving and seeing the tiny portions at other tables and looking at the disappointing menu we decided to order a Sunday lunch instead... It was fine. My husband went to pay and brought up the door issue to the waitresses, her response was, "oh" and then she walked away!!!! He payed the bill and after returning home we realised we had been charged £4.55 service charge we weren't told about! Will not be returning, £50 wasted in my opinion.

User

I visited today for the first time to try out afternoon tea. I wanted to treat three of my family members.

We were all highly disappointed with both the food and service from the staff and won’t be returning.

We arrived and were sat right beside a door that was constantly opening and allowed a draft to come in, as staff took food in and out.

We sat at the table for 10/15 minutes before somebody came over and asked if we would like to order drinks. I asked if they did and herbal tea instead of tea or coffee as I don’t like either, I was told I could have black currant and that was the only option. I got the impression the staff member didn’t want to tell me about the other kinds they do. There was also no mention of exchanging for another drink and paying a supplement.

The afternoon tea came pretty quick, I’m guessing they’re already made up. The sandwiches were dry and on cheap bread. The beef in the sandwiches was full of gristly and inedible. The scone tasted like salt and wasn’t sweet at all. We were given both cream and jam to put on the scones but one of us doesn’t like cream and prefers butter. When I approached the counter and asked for some, I was told, “the scones dont come

With butter” I was aware of this and that’s why I was asking. The cakes were average and seemed as if they could have quite easily come from a packet.

I would have spoken to a member of staff about our experience when I went to pay, but she was too busy talking to another staff member and said she would bring the change over. Not once were we asked if we’d enjoyed it or if we needed anything else. £55 wasted!

User

I have to say that we shan’t be returning to the parlour. And by ‘returning’, I mean actually getting to eat there in the first place! I understand it is a lovely place to get married but I think you’re ruining your brunch and afternoon tea trade by constantly being closed on a weekend! This is the main time for people like me to have a drive out and have a treat after a long week at work but I- and others I have spoken to, will not be considering the parlour as somewhere to go from now on. Such a shame.

User

Went there yesterday to celebrate my mother in laws 60th birthday. We where in a private room (one of the sheds). The setting was lovely the food was delicious however no provisions had been made to account for the fact that it was -2 outside!! The shed was freezing cold and never warmed up. We asked 3 times for a heater and nothing was done. My 3 children ( including a 10 week old) has caught a chill from being in that room. We all had to keep our coats, scarves and hats on as it was that cold. The food was lovely however we waited over an hour for it to be served. On top of that the toilets were in another shed and were freezing cold as the windows were left open. We won’t be going back there in the winter months again

User

Wanted to stop off for tea as we'd enjoyed the place before, only to find it unwelcoming to such custom now. Avoid.

User

Paid for afternoon tea for two voucher for my mum but she fell ill and was in hospital for 3 months and suffered an infection that nearly made her go blind. So we rang to explain and to ask if we could extend the voucher but we were told we had to use it within a month.

We’ve tried on a few occasions to visit on a Saturday but they were shut due to Weddings.

My wife and I went today because my mum is still recovering and to use the voucher up and I must say what a disappointment it was to me.

To start with we were welcomed with we are too busy, we could have a table but we had to be away in an hour.

Then when we got our food I had to go and ask for side plates, knifes and napkins.

Not my cup of tea!

Me and my mam visited today for the first time since the parlour has change to its new format. We were greeted by waitress who was polite who asked us if we had booked a table. We said no as we were unaware that this was now the case.

For all the food we had was lovely I feel £18 for two bowls of soup and two coffees was a bit excessive.

The new format allows either a lunch or afternoon tea so I disappointed that you can no longer go for coffee and a cake.

In the time that we were sitting lots of customers were turned away. I appreciate that businesses have to grow, however the people who are booking their wedding are booking it because they liked the original format.

We offer used to go in the morning for breakfast which were always outstanding, however this is no longer part of the menu.

We won’t be returning to the parlour which is a shame, as it has lost the sparkle which made myself and many other customers return time after time.

Also...I think you need to remove the plaques from the toilet which state “life is better with tea and cake” because for all this is true, we can’t get it from the parlour anymore.

User

It appears anyone after only a coffee and scone aren’t welcome anymore. The minimum order is an ‘afternoon tea’, two scones, slice of cake and one drink. I asked if we could order a single coffee with it? No, you’ll need to order a second afternoon tea!

Who eats two scones and a cake on one sitting

The car park is usually full but not today. Turning customers away seems a strange technique for making a profit
