We've just arrived home after a 4 night stay at the Penny Hedge. What a lovely hotel and restaurant. The staff couldn't have been more accommodating and the food was delicious. We were only supposed to stay for 3 nights but we decided we wanted to stay an extra night - this was dealt with effortlessly by staff and was much appreciated! Looking forward to our next visit already!

We have just come from here and what can i say the food on the evening was gorgeous the staff were very very polite the rooms are comfy stylish and everything you need is there the breakfast was brilliant if i could give this placeva 10/10 i would whoever visits will not be dissapointed well done marstons fantastic stay

We came in yesterday with our grandson we have never been before. The food was really lovely I had the rump steak my husband had the pulled pork. Plenty of choice on the children's menu. The service was good with nice friendly girls serving us. When we are in whitby again we will definitely be visiting again I'd advise any family to go

Very good service and staff very sociable , nothing was any trouble . Meal was hot but only thing was we couldnt eat it all . That was not a criticism i shouldnt have had a starter . 10 out of 10.

Third stay at this lovely hotel , modern and clean hotel with a lovely breakfast , staff are very polite and helpful. It’s about a 20 minute walk into Whitby , it’s much easier to leave the car at the hotel car park and walk in , it’s a bit harder walking back up the hill but walks off the fish and chips !

Rooms are modern and clean with every thing you need for a comfortable night or two away in Whitby. Thoroughly recommend and we will be returning x

There aren't words to describe how wonderfully looked after my elderly parents were by David and his team this week. My Mum is disabled with Altzheimers and Dad is her carer. I called ahead of their arrival and spoke to David as I was worried about Dad managing. I shouldn't have worried. My parents were treated like Royalty. Their whole experience from a fantastic room to fantastic food to fantastic incredibly helpful staff, they couldn't have asked for more. Mr and Mrs Watts will definitely be returning. Thank you so very much xx

The rooms were very clean, spacious and the staff who run both the hotel and restaurant were fantastic. The food was superb and the service was excellent. They even made sure my partner and I were comfy at our two night stay and were happy to help when required.



On Friday 8th (Sept 2017) some people who were staying at the hotel were completely drunk at the early hours of that morning, shouting down the corridor and slamming the doors so hard it rattled our room continuously till about 3am. The staff here did not tolerate this they were swiftly taken out of the premises before being banned. They even gave us a gorgeous bottle of prosecco for the inconvenience which to be honest shows what a brilliant place the Penny Hedge is.



My partner and I wish to thank you all for letting us stay at your hotel as well as your kind and caring service, we will be back I promise. I highly recommend this place to everyone.

Thank you for a lovely meal to celebrate an anniversary. Lots of choice of food and drinks .. food well prepared and delicious. Relaxed spacious area in which to eat and friendly helpful staff.

Stayed here with a party of family for my daughters wedding last week. Could not praise the staff highly enough in both bar and hotel. My daughter got ready for the wedding here and the lovely cleaning staff accommodated her and didn't fuss about cleaning her room on the wedding day apart from fresh towels gets and couldn't do enough to help.

The bar and restaurant staff were so friendly and in a busy half term week, coped with our own excited little bridesmaids daily.

The bride was given champagne and chocolates, the family were so well looked after and everyone was happy.

This is a well kept hotel, no real frills but good food, good service and spotless.

I have only one little suggestion......a comfy chair in the bedroom I stead of the more upright one.

Would return without hesitation.

Stayed for two nights ,rooms clean and comfortable will be staying again .

Food was fantastic had steak tonight and I must say it was one of the best steaks I have had for a long time ,service was good and the staff were first class nothing was too much trouble.Sat in bed on our last night felling well fed and booking again to come in December.

Just had one of the best meals ever. Really tasty and very reasonably priced. We're here all week so will definitely be coming back.

I visited this week with a overnight stay and all i can say is thank you for such a great experience.

Had our Christmas dinner there Christmas eve, it was first class, though a little too much and sadly couldn't eat it all.

Went there this morning(Boxing Day)for breakfast, it was amazing, cooked to perfection anc thd staff couldn't be more helpful. Wil, definitely be back. Happy New Year to you all.
