We've visited the Ship Inn on many occasions, on our never ending quest to find "beverages previously not savoured" it's an absolute gem of a place, we were last there on a Monday afternoon while the schools were on holiday, the sun was out and everyone was sitting outside the ship inn, it's a very dog friendly bar, and there were many friendly dog's who had brought their owner's along! when sitting inside, the music they play just suits the mood of the place, it's a little Oasis tucked away under the Byker Bridge at the bottom of Stepney bank, PS and the food is excellent, whether you're

Vegie, vegan, carnivore, or a just don't know!

You'll not starve at The Ship Inn,

We visited the ship inn for the first time on valentines night . Myself and my girlfriend had the lucky fish and chips and they were tremendous ... real chunky chips, the pea/mint purĆ©e was fab. Great service got a table straight away and the food was delivered to our table a few minutes later .. real friendly bar staff and thereā€™s a great atmosphere /ambience about the place ... definately recommend it ... we will be back as would like to try a few other things on the menu ... superb ... if I could of give it 10 stars I would of ..

Was really busy today, which I was told was unusual. This is the type of place if you want a sociable atmosphere. There weren't many seats, so we joined a table with other people which was a great experience. Food arrived really quickly despite it being busy. I had the tofu fish and chips which was absolutely amazing. Best pub food I have ever had. Great price for what you get. Staff were friendly, as were the fellow customers. I was glad to see such a wonderful place filled with people. Will definitely be back.

This review comes from a self confessed worlds biggest meat eater! What can i say? Bloody lovely, thats what. Came here with my wife who recently went vegan. I had the kebab and nachos. Was a taste revelation. All fresh, tasty and bursting with flavour! Def be back. Thanks for a lovely meal.

User

Pop in for a spot of lunch. The food was really tasty and had plenty of texture (which I think is often an important feature missing from some veggie dishes served in restaurants and bars). We shall be back for Sunday lunch!

User

Mouth still watering from the absolutely delicious pie and veg I had a couple of Sundays ago, highlight of a lovely day out. Great place and great atmosphere and knowing I can eat anything on the menu cos its vegan is the best thing ever

User

I was in Newcastle for a local music festival and tried the shawarma from here. If I lived closer I'd visit more to try other things on the menu. I highly recommend the place.

User

Great to discover this little gem. A really inventive and varied menu from which I'm sure non vegan / vegetarian diners can find something to tantalise their tastebuds. The chunky chips (part of a few of the dishes) are out of this world. I heartily recommend the teriyaki burger - griddled pineapple sets it off perfectly. Must return to try more of the menu.

User

First try of Vegan food, really lovely choices on the menu, sampled 4 different dishes between us and found they were all extremely tasty and well presented. Lovely service and a really nice place to visit highly recommend ļæ½

User

Bit of an upside down review, we had a table booked last Saturday and everything that could go wrong did. Table not ready, most of the food off and topped off by losing our order so even less food left. The 5 star review is for the superb way this was handled. Utterly professional and completely honest, no rubbish excuses. Ended up with a table weighed down with the best quality food that we otherwise would not have tried. Thank you.

User

Beautiful food x beautiful people! Thanks so much had a lovely evening playing connect 4 and enjoying some of the delicious food from the menu! Very chilled and relaxed feel! So sorry we forgot to leave a tip!! Xx xxxxx

User

Amazing vegan food in a lovely venue with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. And dogs! What more could you want? We can recommend the jackfruit shawarma, aloha teriyaki burger and kids (tofu)fish n chips. How soon is acceptable to come back?!

User

Amazing dinner very filling will defo go again lovely staff and a amazing bar in the heart of the stunning ouseburn valley

User

1st visit with my husband and son and it wonā€™t be our last, weā€™re already planning our next. Fabulous food, staff and atmosphere which the dogs added to. You do not miss meat when you eat here, the food is full of flavour

User

Today me and my boyfriend had the nachos and the lucky taco. The nachos where very bland and came without the vegan cheese i was looking forward to. It was basically just beans and giant crisps. No salsa, no guac, no nothing (couldnt realy call them nachos). My boyfriends taco was very small for the price and was impractical in the fact that the shell was neither hard or soft and was just placed on the plate with all the filling dumped on top. (Couldnt really call this a taco either). Massively dissapointed as every other time we have ate here the food has been exeptional however today's expierence has been quite a bit of a let down and deffinalty didn't match the good service and food we are normally provided here.

User

Food was good - burger was delicious however the chips were slightly too salty for my own preference. The staff were friendly and the decor quirky. Menu was good with regards to variety and a decent kids menu available. Highchairs are also available - however it's a shame there was no baby changing facility as this means we cannot return with our daughter even though the place caters for kids!

User

Not good when you get half way through sharing bowl if nachos n find a hair ok accidents happen but when gentleman takes bowl n tells you twice owner will be over to speak to u..n 15 min later we had to leave with no contact from mgr/owner poor customer care ļæ½

User

Worse place to eat....seats outside rubbish benches disgusting staff rude unfriendly and food shit! !!! We asked for Nachos please before our meal..to be told "we are not a restaurant " and "go outside and see what table number you are if you want serving!!! Then without a "please or thank you "told to fetch dishes back once your finished eating!!!

User

Very disappointing visit, we waited 55 mins for our food which was generally poor. My daughter enjoyed her kimchi which was nicely present. The hummus platter was disappointing, with the only highlight the coriander one. Both the normal and the beetroot were tasteless and watery. The salt and chilli chips tasted of old oil and were very greasy and unappetising. The childrenā€™s veggie fingers, chips and beans was served in a bowl, with beans dumped over the top, meaning the fingers and the chips were soggy and completely covered in the tomato sauce. We had been really looking forward to our lunch based on the reviews, and were very hungry due to the long wait but we hardly ate anything. Sadly we wouldnā€™t come back
