About The Solan Connor Fawcett Family Cancer Trust

The Solan Connor Fawcett Family Cancer Trust is a County Durham and Darlington based non-profit charity aimed at providing help and support to families affected by a Cancer diagnosis or bereavement .

The Solan Connor Fawcett Family Cancer Trust Description

Marks Story.

I signed up for a white collar boxing event to raise money for Cancer Research UK in May this year in memory of my mam and gran who both died from cancer.
My mam was 42 when she was told she was terminally ill and she died age 43, I was 22 but on turning 42 this year I wanted to do something big in her memory.
I had always kept fit but had never had a boxing match and I aimed to raise a total of £1000(The national UWCB record was £10, 240) The night of my fight in July 2015 my total had reached £14, 000 and I won my fight by TKO after 85 seconds of the first round.
When my just giving page closed at the start of September 2015, my total was standing at £21, 315, I am now setting up my own cancer trust and opening a charity shop and drop in centre which will all support individuals and families in County Durham and eventually the whole of the North East, who are affected by cancer.
Although I have lots of events planned over the next few months, I'm planning a large cycling fundraiser for April 2016, supported by Team Cycles and Cancer Research UK, with more sponsors to be confirmed.
Im planning to start on my own on my sponsored bike, One of my best friends will be coming along in a support vehicle following my journey taking part as and when. The planned route will be from John O`Groats and follow the coastline around the whole country, Each day participating in different events, sky dives, bungee jumps, half marathons, iron mans etc. linking in with Cancer Research UK and local media services.
Between May and September 2015 I have raised between £26, 000-£30, 000 and since received the mayors scroll from Spennymoor Town council, my hometown.
I am also a regional finalist for the Pride Of Britain Awards 2015, an amazing and unique experience after only five months.
Please support our amazing cause and follow our journey.

This charity has supported me so much and I would like to give a big shout out to Andrea Mackrell who has lifted my spirits every week when she has carried out her massages or reiki on me, she is a total inspiration. I have made lots of new friends in the warriors and without the fundraising and Mark Solan's commitment this would not be a option.... keep up with the great work TEAM SOLAN

I met Andrea last year, I had been battling Acute Myloid Leukemia and Andrea contacted me to tell me about the Solan Connor Fawcett Trust and told me Mark and the trust had offered to pay for my wedding flowers as I was getting married. I was completely blown away by this gesture. My flowers were beautiful and the day was perfect. I had a couple of wigs that I no longer used so I donated them to the wig bank at the shop so other woman could have use of them.

It's an absolutely amazing charity for the area x
