Summer Reading Challenge 2019
The theme this year is Space Chase, an out-of-this-world adventure inspired by the 50th anniversary of the first moon landing.
Children taking part in the Challenge will join our super space family, The Rockets, for a thrilling mission to track down books nabbed by mischievous aliens! By making three visits to the library and borrowing books the children will receive stickers on each visit and then a certificate and a medal on completion of the ...challenge.

Do you need a good read for your holidays, but worry about dropping your library book on the beach or in the pool? Why not pop along to Tickhill Community Library and browse the second hand book section, the fiction hardbacks and paperbacks are all in excellent condition and only £1 each. The proceeds are donated to MacMillan and this year the Library has raised over £250.

This week BookTrust launches its brand-new nationwide Pyjamarama campaign for under 5s. It's all about having fun with bedtime stories and the aim is to give every child a bedtime story. Diana Gerald, CEO of BookTrust says: “We want to make sure that no child misses out on the life-changing benefits of a bedtime story.” Tickhill Community Library has copies of Car, Car, Truck, Jeep by Katrina Charman and Nick Sharratt to give away to under 5s between 3 - 9 June, together wit...h a starry headband to make and decorate and a bedtime rhymes song sheet. This week the children from Wilsic Road Nursery have had great fun in the Library creating their very own starry headbands and listening to stories. Why not pop along to the Library for your own free copy of the book, but be quick, they are not likely to be around very long! Stocks are limited!

To celebrate Elmer’s 30th Birthday Tickhill Community Library held a drop in activity last Friday. Children had a choice of a number of activities to take part in……… an Elmer hunt around the Library, create bunting and a card to celebrate Elmer’s special birthday, do Elmer colouring or a crossword, but the favourite activity by far was to make Elmer ears to wear.
